I want to add details west knuckle coupler and bracket casting to a couple engines I'll be working on. It says to drill a .031" hole, what size drill bit is that?
Pin vise bit number question.

The chart I have shows .031 as a 68 drill.

A #68 bit is .031", but the 1/32" bit will work just fine, too.
If you really want to cover the spectrum of sizes, you'll need a set of fractional bits, numbered ones, lettered ones, and probably metric ones, too. Wayne

Thank you for the info guys. Details west castings usually have the number of the bit you need to use, I thought it was odd they only had the size in inches for this casting.

Cancel my previous request - an internet search has provided several - thanks anyway
For reference this is the one I will be using http://tubeamplifierparts.com/handy-amp ... chart.html - there is a large number of other choices

Shortliner:
The chart I have came from (IIRC) an early issue of Model Railway Journal. The NMRA has it in their data sheets D1c. It's also shown on the little pack of drills that I have.
