Cool! I would agree about that old hospital being a great design for a depot. I would have guessed a school, but would probably have never guessed it was a hospital.

It's a poor picture, but I couldn't get one face-on because of the light. My other two shots came back so tiny that they are useless for anything. The building is perfectly symmetrical, with the center section flanked by two small identical wings. Depot in the center, passenger waiting on one side and freight on the other.

That building would be an excellent depot!
I only know what I know, and I don't understand very much of it, either.

I'm considering modeling it for my layout, although I may have to "selectively compress" it just a bit to keep it in synch with the town.

I think a small town depot would look like the right section of that building with the bay window and a platform in front. Would a small town depot have had more than one floor?

Ordinarily, I would say no, but since Yreka has always been the country seat of Siskyou County, a very large county, it's possible. Cripple Creek, after all, had a three-story depot.
