For those in the Golden Horseshoe area, try Ontario Plywood Specialties.
They're at 257 Centennial Parkway, in Hamilton, Ontario and you can check them out at the link above, or by 'phone at 905-561-3576. They also offer free delivery, although I don't know what the operating radius is for that service.

Same thing here in northern Ontario. Unless I buy a full skid of it I am out of luck. The good news is before they stopped selling it here I did manage to grab six 4x8 sheets of it.

Commonwealth Plywood. According to them they are one of the only dealers in Ontario that carry it. 2 sheets cost me $50 bucks and will make me a ton of roadbed...which isn't bad considering that is what you would pay for two sheets of 3/4 ply.

See, there you go... it's official! According to them, I can get it at Home Depot. I thought I tried them and they told me to go jump in a lake... well, not in those exact words.

Calm Down there, TrainNut! There is a way. There's always a way! (Yeah, me too!)

The extremely high humidity here in Soutwest Florida demands different construction materials than in other less humid areas of the country. I had the same experience as TrainNut ... went to Home Depot and the response to my question re: Homosote from the mental giant in Building Supplies referenced homosexuals!

Undaunted, undeterred and not one to "lay down and take it"and determined that I was going to use Homosote, not cork, for my roadbed, I went back to the Homosote Web Site <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.homasote.com/">http://www.homasote.com/</a><!-- m -->, looked up the Area Rep and sent him an email detailing my experience at Home Depot. I explained that I wasn't going to need a 14' box truck of sheets of Homosote, I wasn't building a strip mall or a half dozen spec houses ... I needed a sheet or two to use as roadbed on the model railroad I was building.

The next day I received an email back from the rep to inform me that none of the H/D's or Lowes in Florida carried Homosote, but he then gave me Name/Address/Phone # of a building supply company within 50 miles of me who he said did carry it. (Down here, within 50 miles is not all that far away ... it's the next decent size town, not the cross-roads "down the road a piece" with a gas pump in front of the one room post office.) He ended his email wishing me lots of enjoyment with my model railroad, indicating that the product is widely used in the application that I had described, inviting me to call or email him if I encountered any further problems.

When in search of information, search first for the place it can be found or the person who can get it for you! 8-)

I think the HD near me carries it, or used to, in about 3" wide strips to use for concrete forms. At least I think that is what it was. It was some kind of gray fibrous paper board. Before I tried too hard to find it in larger sheets, I decided against using it but now can't remember why.
