Of course, I much prefer the look of a big, heavy, American freight (I may be a bit biased), I do enjoy seeing trains from around the world. Thanks for sharing, I look forward to more

Nice selection of photos Alan! Thanks for sharing them with us. Bridges like the one at Ruskington Station are so picturesque and just seem to say "British Railroading" to me. Nice to see the vintage steamers! Welcome aboard, by the way!

Excellent pics, Alan! Although I'm jealous
Is that BIttern in one of the pics?
I live in Toronto but I'm an "Anglophile" ... I even married a Brit -- so I'm able to visit the UK every two years or so! I'm also modeling the Somerset & Dorset in the 1950s/60s in 00. I have a small 00 layout which is based on Wellow Station near Bath.

Dear Alan, Thanks so much for sharing those great photos. We don't get to see enough of these classic trains here in the Colonies.
Welcome aboard, and please keep posting more to this thread.
Charlie.

Yes Rob, it is Bittern. The one at Swinderby is Sir Nigel Gresley.
The S&D is a wonderful line to model - I guess you have an S&D 2-8-0?

In november 2008, we had many more trains on our line as various operators were running route learning trips for drivers who will be using the route shortly. Also during engineering work on the east coast main line, diesel hauled trains were diverted along our route between Doncaster and Peterborough.
Here is Advenza class 47 on route learning for Grand Central drivers passing my garden
another route learner passing the station, this time a class 67
Advenza class 47 returning
A High Speed Train (HST) approaching the station during the diversions
Grand Central HST heads north
