Let me rephrase the question.

Is there anyone here who does not use digitrax sound decoders and the PR2 or PR3 programmer?

Charlie, looks like you are the only person at The Gauge who doesn't have digitrax sound.

Well, I'll just have to continue the learning curve by myself. I got the PR3 programmer and one of the new $49 digitrax sound decoders. Also have an older digitrax sound decoder installed in a CF7, but the sound is wrong = way too modern. So, i have been playing around with downloading sound files from the net and putting them in the decoders.

Good news is, I can make it work. Bad news is, the sound files on the Digitrax site really aren't that impressive. I'm searching the net trying to find other places to get sound files from. More bad news is that the digitrax manuals are crappy. Supposedly there is a way to change the various sounds in a given file, such as changing the horn or the bell, but so far I can't see how to do it and the instructions are completely silent on what to do.

Gary...You might try this. Like in most forums, there's a number of really knowledgeable people who can lend a hand...I believe you need to sign up, but it's no big deal.
