A very nice photo montage, RailOhio.

Being in the right place at the right time is of no consequence if you don't have your camera along for the ride ... but it seems you always do!

We appreciate all the fine photo reference with which you supply us ... well, at least I do ... and although I model eastern upstate Pennsylvania, many of the scenes that you record still work for me reference-wise, and the rest make for very interesting viewing!

THANKS!

And what an interesting contrast to the trackwork I get to see in Houston! When BNSF needs trackwork, they show up with fancy BNSF work trucks with welding machines and cranes and everything, and they bring in all manner of rail equipment, all the workers are decked out with uniforms and hardhats and day-glow vests and safety gear, all the proper tools, supervisors, and whatever else you can think of. Quite a difference! Big Grin

Looks like they found those guys hanging out at the gas station and hired them just for the day!

Let me venture a guess ...

Small-Time Railroad ...
Small Town, Middle-American Values and Work Ethic ...
Non-Union Workers ...
Employess who appreciate their job ...
... and realize that a well-maintained Right-of-Way keeps the railroad running ...
... which keeps them employed ...
... and all that keeps the pay check arriving on Friday afternoon!

Am I close?

Those guys are temporary summer help; their supervisor this day was the road's regular conductor. There is no regular maintenance department and the standard operating procedure is to extract as much out of the property and put as little back in as possible.

Think those guys can get some weed eaters and clear away some of those weeds when they finish repairing that section of track? 357

It will buy them a few beers at the end of the day Smile. Good honest hard work, though!
