I was thinking about older topics and remembered a series of pics that someone did(I think Mr nutbar) He always had a water tower in the back ground and would show a whole train as it passed by.
Does anyone else remember this or am I loosing it? It may have been on the old Gauge.

Is the question about the old poster, the water tower, or the trains? :?:

Well Mountain man, I guess all three. Maybe he will see this and start again. I thought it was enjoyable.

One question is still unanswered. Was it the old Gauge or zealot gauge?

Hi Les,
I noticed that Tom posted in the Hobo thread as recently as Thursday. You could PM him and ask about his pics, which I always enjoy as well!

Yeah, I always enjoyed Tom's run-bys, and he inspired several of us to copy the idea, too.

I PMed him and warned him that he was the topic of discussion here and suggested he take a look.

The last I heard, Tom was occupied with some personal issues, so we can only hope that those things have been resolved and that he'll have something in the way of a fresh run-by for us. I started to shoot a new one, but have had several interruptions and may not get it done until Tuesday or Wednesday. Even if it turns out, it'll still be just an imitation of the real McCoy.

Those rollbys were one of the main reasons I joined the original Gauge forum.

Thanks guys for the compliments and yes I have been missing for a while. Work and life have been interfering with modeling time. Every time I get the layout and workbench cleared off and ready to go something comes up and before I know there is junk piled up on both again.
I am still learning how to use my new camera that I got for Christmas last year. I have done some layout shots but the quality is not what I am used to. Funny it is a better camera that my old one and guess as result it is not as forgiving as the old one.
Now the problem is my tripod was damaged during one of my daughter’s volleyball game. The video camera was saved but a leg on the tripod is slightly bent. It is amazing how hard some girls can hit a volleyball.
Weekends are tough for me posting right now and will be for the next few weeks. My daughter is getting ready for club volleyball season so we are getting court time whenever we can. She has about 6 college volleyball coaches pursuing her so we have also been spending time talking with, visiting campuses, and seeing teams play on the weekends. Next week is another. We have a game to see on Saturday and an Open House on Sunday. Then the following week is club try-outs. Throw in my son’s Boy Scout stuff and my weekends are full. He is getting ready to go to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico next July so he has had several backpack camping weekends and fundraisers. Next week is our District’s Camporee. Also he has been working hard on achieving his Life Scout Rank. His Board of Review is next week and the Court of Honor the following week. With winter coming scouts will clam down also.
I promise that soon I will be posting more often and not just in the Hobo thread.

Since I am sorting my collection of NG&SLG magazines, I did a quick survey for shucks and grins.
It turns out that water towers are the most common feature of probably close to 90% of all photos of trains and layouts.
