Interfacing an Apple iPod Touch and a Windows XP computer.
#1
G'day All,
To avoid joining a computer forum I thought I'd draw upon the the collective wisdom and experience of the BIG BLUE community for some advice regarding interfacing my daughter's new iPod Touch and our Windows XP home computer. We have worked out how to have the iPod access the internet through a USB cable and iTunes software on the XP computer. We also found out that iTunes will place the downloads onto both the iPod and the XP computer- Really Good!!! But when it comes to taking photo's with the iPod we don't know how to get the image files from the iPod to the XP computer. Is there a way to work the system as it is, or is there (hopefully free) software that will allow this sort of interfacing??
Thanks in advance, Andrew G.

If I remember correctly does the iPod appear to XP like an external USB drive and you get the photo via the file explorer. But Apple does only present the photos taken by the iPoad on that way. You have no access to any music etc. That has been transferred via iTunes to the iPod. That is to prevent copying / duplication licensed / copyright material via iPod/iPad/iPhone.

Under My Computer you should see the idevice listed as a seperate drive, click it open the folder to view and copy photos to wherever you want.

I just Select All and place in a new backup folder.

Also, if you decide to make albums to import to ipod, you won't be able to transfer photos you take into the folders unless you make the folders on the ipod

G'day All,
Thanks for the suggestions Tom & Rheinhard, we have solved the problem. Essentially we were plugging the iPod into the computer before we booted up the system and so somehow missed the dialogue box that was asking about linking the iPod to the computer as if it was a digital camera. We are now downloading photo's.
Thanks again,
Andrew G.
