This years open house schedule for Delaware ,S.E. Pa, South Jersey & Eastern Md. It can be found at http://www.modelrailroadopenhouse.com/ There are some fantastic layouts on this schedule. If you live anywhere near any of these I assure you it would be worth the trip, make a day of it. I know of one other person on here that would agree. There is also a facebook page for it at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Model-Rai ... 7033210575

And in case those of you reading haven't guessed it yet, both Lester (HO) and I (1:20.3 Narrow Gauge G) are participating again this year!!!!!!

That's great news, I knew you both were participating this year, I just am sorry that I don't live closer to be able to see what you both and the rest of the group have to offer. It's got to be a fun time, I wish we had something like this around here. I think they have a garden tour, but I'm not sure about any others.

Have fun and be sure to post a lot of pics of your open houses... Thumbsup

So why not get one started? Someone had to start this one.

Good point and I'm sure it won't happen overnight or with the efforts of just one person. I know there are railroad groups nearby in the Sun Cities areas, one would think that would be a natural place to start even though they are restricted to residents of that particular Sun City.

I would think that Sandy is going to have a profound affect on the tour schedule and we could assume it to be canceled. A pity, but this has to be the least of concerns right now. Again, we hope for a quick recovery for all of those that have been affected by this disaster. Most of us cannot fully comprehend the magnitude of this, but the pictures we see are heartbreaking.

There are 14 open in NJ.. The ones in PA, DE and MD should have little dificulty being open (as long as they have electiricity)... The organizer sent an e-mail notification to all of us to reply if we are closing, so far no one has replied since the "Changes" page has no closings for this weekend Smile Big Grin Smile Big Grin Smile

and one man moved his open house from Nov 17th to Nov 3rd..

All these this weekend are "Indoor" layouts.

That's good, but I'm wondering just how many folks can't answer because their power or Internet is down. I think the organizers should have asked for those that can and are going to be open to respond. I'm sure all of you back there are more aware of the situations and have an idea who can and who cannot. Good luck to those that remain on schedule.

Yeah - that makes sense now that you put it that way. I didn't think of that, 35
I'm starting to hear from talking to our delivery drivers. the effects are localized inland at least. Just some areas still don't have power, but it's "Spotty" not huge inland areas. The only huge area is still along the Atlantic coast in NY & NJ.... They are the ones who need a lot of relief and a lot of prayers! Sad Sad Sad Sad

Not as good as I thought it was going to go..... I had 6 people on Saturday - a lot of great compliments. One father & son looked at the G scale hanging from the ceiling and startd asking tons of "how" questions Smile They are planning an 18 X 24 around the bottom of the roof of their back deck!!! I told them as much as i could and I think they'll do ok Smile Smile Smile

Sunday - I had one guest on 4 hours Wallbang Lots of Mahjong and Sudoku playing on my cell phone Sad but I also purchased "Lionel" style LED lights at the train show... so i built another signal bridge Smile Smile

The right side is the original bridge with the new LED Green bulb.. the left side over the sidings are 2 yellow LED's... So I did keep busy while waiting for guests.....

......... I hope to get to a few HO & N Layouts this weekend... we'll see....... Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Sorry to hear that things didn't go that well, but under the circumstances, I think you did well to see anyone. I wonder how Les and the others did?

I hope you guys don't have to wait another year to do this when things aren't as chaotic as they are right now.
