Day trip for Gauge members
#1
I was thinking about a nice day trip for Gauge members in the eastern Pa ,western Jersey area.
(of course all are welcome that want to join in) I checked some spots and figured that we could check out the #9 coal mine in Lansford Pa. http://www.no9mine.com and near by Jim Thorp the same day. In Jim Thorp there is the former CNJ station used by the Lehigh gorge scenic railway (they offer a train ride along the Lehigh river that we could take) there is also an Ho layout in the building next door. There are plenty of other things to do in Jim Thorp. I would like to set this up for this spring or summer let me know what you think and if you want to go so we can set a date. I am open to any other ideas so if you got one lets here it.

Attendee List with mileage to Scranton, PA:

e-paw --------------------- Saylorsburg PA ---------------- 50 miles
tomustang ---------------- Lehigh Valley, Pa -------------- 63 miles
DoctorWayne ----------------- Canada
Cn nutbar ---------------------- Canada
N Gauger ----------------- South East PA ------------------ 129 miles
jefelectric ---------------- Central PA ---------------------- 137 miles

That's why I'm starting this in February for a trip in the spring/summer, so we could come up with a date that works for as many people as possible.

I think I would be able to wander down from Buffalo, I have always wanted to see Steam Town and The Curve. Not sure how far away everything is.

How about over the next 2 weeks we try to set a weekend date for the trip. May be we set up a pole to find out who's available when. I've never tried to organise a group like this before, I'm learning as I go. My goal is to include as many people as possible an have a good time.
