Probably a dumb connection, but the car in the news story, # 437 was formerly Penn Central 305. 304/305 were the first Married Pair Silverliner IVs, delivered immediately after the last Jersey Arrow IIs were produced in late 1974/early 1975.

This pair is also somewhat interesting in that this is their second renumbering. They were renumbered 416/415 in 1993 before being renumbered again in 1995 as 438/437.


More related to the story, that kinda sucks, but then maybe we'll get to see some neat trains. My books have tons of photos from the last SEPTA strike with Conrail locomotives hauling Silverliners around in wacky push-pull trains!
