2016 Big Blue NASCAR Racin'

Amazing... No one changed position again this week. I felt for sure since the field was flopped points-wise, that a few would have changed position...

See you next week!!!! Cheers

I was channel surfing when I came across the race. Back in the day Bristol was always sold out, usually months in advance but it looked like it was 75% empty? How hard of times has NASCAR fallen on?

It's a combination of:

The price of plane tickets - for those that used to go to 3 or more races a season
The cost of hotel stays
The economy in general
The charges for parking the RV's at certain tracks
The increasing price of fuel for those RV's
The cost of race tickets and/or weekend packages
The big stars retiring... Stewart, Gordon, Wallace, the Waltrip boys, etc.
The (way too many) rule changes

I used to go but haven't been in 15 years ....tickets were very hard to get back then and for me it was a 12 hour drive down there and good luck trying to find a motel ....stayed in Virginia one time , 40 miles from the track . Things have changed for Nascar over the last several years .

Waltrip and Wallace retired many years ago and Mikey Waltrip never was a star and nobody liked Stewart so I wouldn't think they are a factor. Fuel prices are the cheapest they have been in 8 years so that shouldn't be a factor either. I think while some of the other things mentioned are a contributing factor the biggest reason may be is they have strayed too far from their roots. Too many big budget multi car teams that have forced the little (and sometimes more colorful people) out of the sport. Also too many cookie cutter mile and a half and two mile tracks where they just go round and round. They need to go back to the half mile bull rings where they got out there and beat the fenders off each other's cars for 500 laps.

Yeah , it's pretty boring now ......identical cars , same power , drivers who can only speak " Nascar - speak " ....want to thank my sponsors , the fans , the crew , blah , blah .....almost like they have cue cards . I do like the local dirt track here in my area , a fun night with amateurs who battle for a few hundred bucks .

Have you also noticed that since Daytona where they had a full field of 43 cars, I think every race since then has had only 39 cars. They must be keeping the little guys out for sure.
