The rebirth of the Canyon State RR
Thanks Mike, I still need to get those vehicles back on order. I haven't a clue where these came from, but they're what i got right now. Icon_redface

Been plugging along on my hospital. I took that Walther's "Downtown Hotel" kit, made a few changes so that there was a walk-in entrance in the front and an emergency entrance in the rear. The body was brown, I changed it to aged brick, and will leave off most of the window awnings and the fire escapes that came with the kit. I don't think hospitals have external fire escapes anyway, plus, I don't like the scale of the ladders, like most N scale accessories, they are way out of scale. Handrails measure over 4", distance between them only 16", just about as unrealistic-looking as most of my vehicle collection. Icon_rolleyes

I still have some cleaning up and some detailing, but here's a few shots of where I am right now.

Thanks Wayne, but there is a door there, a double door up the ramp and big enough to fit a gurney. I'll take some better photos after I've finished cleaning things up, I went a bit too far too soon and should have done some detailing before I put that canopy on. Waiting

And inside the hospital nurse Rabiata, cross-breed of fire spitting dragon and drill sergeant, will take special care for the impatient ones ...

Thanks guys, I still have some cleanup and detailing, and now that it has that canopy, it won't fit where I was planning.

Lutz, I was thinking about hiring nurse Ratched from the, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest movie, but then again, that was a different kind of hospital.

Finally found where the Getwell Hospital needed to be located. Mr. Getwell not only donated the building, but the ground it's on. The only problem was that they weren't in the same place at the time. We have taken care of that, added lighting and a heliport to accommodate emergency helicopters. I caught one on approach as I was shooting. The first floor has a fully functional ER, admitting and offices. The second floor has a OR, imaging center and labs. Top floor is where we can charge the heck out of them for staying overnight.

It looks great Don. Perfect location. That is the size of our hospital is you only count the occupied rooms. I think there are over 800 beds but every time I have been there, as a patient and a visitor 75% of the beds are empty.

When my brother had his tonsils out in the eight grade, we all went to visit him. It was a little osteopathic hospital much like the one you now have. When the nurse came in she threw us all out, we had surpassed the 2 visitor limit by 4.  Icon_e_biggrin  It's funny what brings back memories from 65 years ago.

Thanks guys. Not sure just how many patient rooms you can get in 800 sf, but the needs of a small town like Santa Maria aren't that great. The just hired a new doctor as chief-of-staff, his name is Holiday, was recommended by sheriff Earp. Icon_rolleyes Said something about cleaning up the town, wonder what he meant by that..... Waiting

There is a rumor going around that the good doctor one day had something to do with littering the streets, rather than keeping them tidy. I asked Sheriff Earp about that, and all he would say was, "nothing personal, just business, they just let the buzzards clean things up back then". That all happened not too far from here. Got a bit of progress, finished off N. Main St. with the St. Mary's Hotel and Grogan's Furniture. These weren't too damaged from all of our moving around, until they took a tumble on the floor. I made a few "adjustments" since they needed some serious rework anyway. Here is are shots taken during the day and at dawn:

It was kind of dark when I got up this morning so I took a few shots of my layout lit up, and one at dawn. (The red and green lights at the right of the first photo are on my control panel):
