Alternatives to rubbing alcohol for cleaning track
#5
I use a track cleaner from AeroCar or AeroModels. It's a clear liquid in a tall bottle. I managed to get a long eye dropper with a screwon cap for the bottle.
I don't use GooGone since I heard it leaves a residue but it sometimes takes a stcky deposit off.
I've also used Peco Electrolube, but that may not be available everywhere. Looks like oil but conducts.

I saw someone using some wipes from the hardware store that take off or clean up all sorts of paint -- may have turpentine. I used one of them on the Lionel layout.
You could try the wipes after you use them on your hands.

In model railroading, there are between six and two hundred ways of performing a given task.
Most modellers can get two of them to work.
