If there is a local company to you that makes signs or other products from styrene sheets you might be able to buy a large sheet from them I bought  4x8 feet sheets from a supplier in Youngstown and they just rolled it loosely so it would fit in my car. I got 3 different thickness the heaviest is about 1/16 in thick (I forget the exact millage) but it is perfect for buildings and everything I need it for and it is nice to have some in stock when I need it.

Jim is right though about Evergreen, they have brick, lap siding, shingles, stone and any thing else you may want.
Charlie

Charlie, I'm not sure if there is a company near by that makes signs. I'm going to probably order from Evergreen and get a few different kinds of thickness. I'm going to try and convince the fiance to make a trip out to greensburg to a bigger model train shop that is out there and see what they all have as well. Maybe I can find a few items my local shop doesn't have.

I also need to make a trip to Colver, Pa ( the original headquarters of the C&I ) and get photo's of the engine house and car shops.

Today I have been working on a Tie Shear. This is a fun little project and didn't think it would be this much fun but it is.

I completed the Tie Shear last night and the C&I crew already had the machine out on the mainline with a few other pieces of MOW equipment. We also see a train being held at the Revloc Station until the MOW crew clears the main.

All that I need to do now is to letter and number the Tie Shear.

Great job on the Tie Shear. Your railroad is really coming along.

Thank You Tom. It sure is, little by little. Went to the hobby shop today and got some more couplers, picked up a front End Loader, a C&I Hopper and a old fire house. I didn't take a picture of the hopper as I placed it in the train to run for a little bit. This brings me up to lucky number 13 for hoppers.

THe building is taking shape. This is the garage on the side of the fire station. I'm waiting for the garage door to dry from painting and then I can get it put on. Then the roof can be put on and it will be put off to the side until the main building is put together.

All very nice work, you are one busy soul. I have that fire house in N scale, it doesn't take up much room, but looks good...

Thank you Don. I figured I needed a firehouse and one that wasn't too modern but had the old feeling to it and I found that one.

Nice progress. I had the same firehouse kit many years ago. Unfortunately it got destroyed while it was in storage when I lived in an apartment.

Thank you Tom. That's a shame that it got destroyed. The AHM kits aren't bad as this is the third one I've put together and really haven't had trouble with any parts going together. Below are some progress pictures. I know you can have the doors open but I picked to have them closed as the firetruck that came with it will be out on a call somewhere in the town.

While running just some locomotives while I making supper, the train all of a sudden stopped. I checked all connections etc etc. Here it turned out my power pack gave me the finger and said I'm done. I wanted to rule out the pack and wanted to make sure it wasn't the engines. So I set up track in the living room with a different pack and they all ran. So now time to find a powerful enough pack that can run 2-3 engines at once.

I'm going to have to look into that. I'm pretty sure the packs I have are old and just had enough in them for a couple of months.

Talk about old, here is my NYC RS 1. I've had this for a couple of months now and I'm just getting around to messing around with it. When I first ran it, it was god awfully loud. Loud enough the dog was tilting his head wondering what the sound was. In the past hour, I've managed to get it down to a decent noise where it's not bothering anyone too much.

I have completely taken it apart, cleaned, whipped, and oiled everything and it's still making noise but not like before. I feel I have gotten it to where the noise won't get louder nor more quiet. I'm going to work with it more to see if I can get the noise down some more. Then I need to figure why it won't go in reverse.
