I had made an opps. I had put the wrong size numbers on all the engines except for #33. I sat here all this morning removing all the numbers off the sides of the cabs of the other engines and applying smaller numbers.

Here are the other engines waiting to be numbered now

Matt, I think you were closer with the large number.  From what I can measure on a good photo the numbers on the prototype C&I are 10 inches high. attached is a screen shot of a photo with grid lines. Only the height is accurate. each solid box is a foot and the dotted lines are 3 inches.
I would not critique your work otherwise but you are trying so hard to be accurate I am sharing my opinion.

I can see what you're saying Charlie. I was just looking at pictures of the engines and just eyeballing the numbers and the gap between the top and bottom didn't seem right to me and I thought I made a mistake. That's why I went with the smaller numbers. Either or would work because looking at the other Bethlehem roads, numbers were big, numbers were small.

Just like looking at these numbers. They are bigger than the numbers on the engines now but smaller than the numbers that were on them before. I really do appreciate the help as this is a first for me as you know. I have never taken on a project like this before. It was always just run what I had but since I wanted to start a model railroad I figured I would try my hand on it instead of sending the engines out and paying an arm and a leg to have them done up custom.

Lutz

Thank you Lutz. All the Bethlehem Steel owned railroads had switchers as the power. Right now I have five ( #45 is a dummy for now ) with more planned in the near future. Four of them are SW9's ( 33, 34, 36, & 37 ) while there is one SW7 ( 45 ). I am planning to add a couple SW1200's & SW1500's to the roster. I also just ordered 6 more hopper cars to bring the total up to 19 hoppers.

Well tonight I tinkered around with engine number 37 since it was only running on half the engine. I replaced the worm gear on the rear end after digging through my parts to find the correct one. After I corrected that issue she was running like a kitten. Now all four engines are fully powered with the exception of course for number 45 for now. I have a motor sitting here but I know it won't fit on the chassis. Ah well, time to look for the motor assembly and worm gears so I can get it powered.

Well here are the six new hoppers added to the roster. At a later date I will make it to the hobby shop to get couplers or I take a few couplers off other cars and put them on. Either way I am happy they finally arrived and I got them together.

#901 & 976

#783 & 698

#755 & 942

I also painted another calf engine and this one is powered. The other one is going on the back burner for now as it broke.
