Hello Blue
I gotta tell you about our club meet. One of our members is a volunteer at a restored theatre. We had our January meet there. As a special treat they ran a silent Buster Keaton movie accompanied by the restored pipe organ.
Cold, 20 degrees with snow flurries now and then, MUCH colder next week.

Greetings, gang.

It's a rather cool -7 outside my window this morning along with about 3 inches of "less than an inch" of fluffy white snow. With some sunshine and a little luck we might get to the low teens this afternoon.

Yesterday was a lazy day. Did a little shopping in the morning but skipped the gym Then a basketball game for one of the great-grandsons in the late afternoon. This morning I'll be running the snow blower for the first time this season. It's also the first time the city snow plows have been used.

SJ - that sounds like a pretty cool event.

Charlie - continuing prayers for your wife.

Tom - condolences to your family on the loss of your pet.

Gas was down again to $2.82 yesterday.

All stay safe.

Tom

Hello Blue.
Nothing going on but I thought I'd check in. The weather here is Winter all the way. Temp was 30 today and tomorrow. Then down she goes. Brrr
We have not had a big snow but these pesky daily ones keep messin up the sidewalk. Club house is open tomorrow but since I just saw them last Saturday, I will stay home. For us 3railers, the new Lionel catalog is out with prices beyond belief.

Question for sir james and other 3-railers
My wife has a Polar Express set with the extra-noisy tender. She runs this while doing walks in the basement. It seems to give a whistle at random points in the operation, but usually not more than once in a run. Any explanation?

The tender was acquired many years ago in our first RV trip to California. We stopped at a train shop in Albuquerque. She bought the tender; I bought 2 packets of Kadees.

Greeting, gang.

Pleasant (for January) day underway in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. 29 currently under clear skies and heading for the mid 40s this afternoon. Then January returns with a vengeance. The wind shifts to the north at about 25-30 mph and the temperature drops to the single digits by tomorrow morning. Well below zero by Monday morning.

Last basketball game of the season last night. Next family event will be school plays and concerts probably starting in the middle of February. I need to make a Walmart trip this morning and will stop at the car wash after that. My shoulder is acting up again so I may skip the gym.

Gas was up to $3.09 yesterday.

All stay safe.

Tom

Most times dirt is the reason for random whistle sounds. Clean the tender rollers, check the wires & then clean the track with a Scotch Brite. That should help.

Good morning folks

It is 32 currently and heading up to 36. There is little to no wind which makes this feel almost tropical compared to the last few days.

This has been a rough week. On Tuesday we lost one of cats. He was 8 years old and in perfect health. One minute he was bouncing around playing, the next he couldn’t stand on his hind legs. The vet called what happened, thrombosis which was a large blood clot that cut off circulation to his hind legs. We had to let him go. This has been extremely hard on the family since it came t of nowhere. My daughter who was his adopted human is taking it very hard. We are keeping an eye on his brother to make sure nothing happens to him.

Just to make things even more fun our heater developed a leak in one of the pipes. We have a steam system and are having difficulty finding someone to work on it. I have been nursing the system along and have tried to find a temporary plugging of the leak until I can get someone to look at it and fix it.

For the weekend I will be nursing the heater and trying to finish taking down and putting away the Christmas decorations. I will be keeping a close eye on the cat who lost his brother to make sure he stays healthy. I need to make a run to PetSmart, the pharmacy, and the grocery store at some point.

Since I will be in the basement numerous times dealing with the heater I should be able to straightening up the layout and organize some rolling stock. I should be able to run some trains. I may even get a chance to build a kit or two.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Thanks, sir james. I'll look into it.

Tom, that's an awful shock. I had thrombosis a few years ago -- noticed a swollen leg -- and spent a year taking blood thinner pills.

Greetings, gang.

It's a very unpleasant -8 with a wind chill of -25 this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. A high of maybe +5 later on.

With the cold air I've been pretty much sticking to home the lat couple of days. I did get a 2 mile walk on Friday afternoon. Nothing really planned for today other than to stay inside.

All stay safe ( and warm!)

Hello Blue
Tiss 5 degrees with a high of 10. Colder tomorrow.
My wife braved the weather and went to church yesterday morning. I stayed home. We have no errands today. I will watch the buckeye football game tonight and hope they do better than the Lions did Saturday. More Pardons? How can there be pardons before someone is charged with a crime?
