#1
Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me if they have had a loco like this one or one fitted with the same equipment ...... if so how good are they in both running and sound quality ?

Hi Nick
Sorry I missed your post, and so I realize this info will be too late for the Loco you referred to on e-bay..... but I do have a couple of blueline GE AC6000 locos.

The sound component , (which is factory fitted) I thought was pretty good, although one loco is louder than the other.
I could post a small vid with all the sounds here in a couple of hrs if you are still interested.

Here you are Nick.
Not the best I know, but this may give you an idea. I seem to be all thumbs with no fingers, co-ordination deserts me, and my mind goes blank when I have to push buttons, focus camera, not swear, and press the record button on and off all at once it seems
I notice that the ditch lights weren't switched on but they do work and I didn't have time to redo.

The install of a DCC decoder is very simple.

Of course you end up with two decoders which makes it a bit harder to programme. Goldth

enjoy

Hi Jack,

Great vid many thanks for showing it me sounds good i will have to look into getting a blueline or fitting sound into an SD70 flag unit. i notice you like to run British outline as well on the layout ?

One Question do the ditch lights operate independantly on the unit to rule 17 ?

Nick, sorry I had to go and revisit the running of the loco to find an answer to your rule 17 question
The ditch lights only work when the horn is sounding, the loco can be in forward or reverse, and are turned on/off by the F7 button. And the main headlight doesn't dim when they are on.

I also run anything on my layout, 'fraid I'm not your rivet counting type modeler as I don't have the train knowledge to be one......'yet. Goldth And the kids love the roundy roundy part of the deal. Popcornbeer
Maybe as I learn more about the rail industry these things will start to bug me more.

I do run some British outline, but I think a lot of the early stuff in Australia may have originated from the Mother country anyway, and I love the unique style and "smallness" of their early carriages.

Don't know whether you are interested but here is some of the British stable...

The noise in the background is coming from a few happy girls waiting on PistonBroke station for a ride home from the party. Cheers 2285_

The problem I seem to be having is the changing of the couplers to the kadee style from some of the Bachmann and Hornby hornhook style. I have not found a Kadee conversion for some and have had to resort to "cutting and pasting" new ones on. Believe me.....to an inexperienced hand like myself that can be fairly traumatic. Nope

Hi Jack,

Always good to see some British stock rolling though i tried it myself but sold it all off & reverted back to U.S. stuff my first interest, i cant blame you wanting to run a mix of stock after all its your layout and yes some stock could well form a theme of items shipped from the motherland indeed maybe this is something you could enhance further a preserved line or similar :?:

My main reason for not doing British outline was the coupling issue .... see i'm lazy and prefer to rely on Kadees magnets to take care of coupling/uncoupling Big Grin

Thanks for the information on the Ditch lights something i am wanting to do on some of my locos (looking for a suitable light housing) and i'll try it .

I have two AC 6000 as well as several other Blueline engines and I have been very very happy with them all. I always buy them when they are deeply discounted and the install of the decoders on the engines have been some of the easiest I have ever done. The two decoder thing like mentioned before can be a pain.

As far as the sounds being different this two is true. If I remember correctly though, this can be adjusted in the CV values and that takes care of that.

Here are a few pictures of the bluelines I have. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

I have both road numbers of this one, #9800 & #9801.

All of these engines have been very good. I use digitrax decoders in them and they run smooth quiet and for the price they can not be beat. Nope
