| Pullman green paint |

I have a few Pfaudler milk cars I'm gather information for an upcoming project. I am looking for a good source for the Pullman green paint. I was leaning toward Scalecoat ll paint, but the sample image seems really dark almost Brunswick Green looking. Now it seems brass Pfaulder cars may have been painted with this dark green, though. Further poking around the web lead me to the Microscale Floquil conversion chart which showed Humbrol 86 matte light olive as a match. More of the green color I had in mind, but I have never used their paint before. I also found a source for Floquil Pullman green but leary of purchasing because of not knowing how old it is. Checked out Trucolors too and think that is to dark also and I haven't had much success with their paints when I've used them. Does anyone use the Humbrol paints? Or any other suggestions?

I was asked by someone when the last wood cabooses were used in North America and my guess was the late 1960s or early 1970s. I really had no answer and now I’m curious. When were the last ones in service?

I'm planning a structure build for Piedmont Blues, and am starting with a small Clevermodels kit - in this case the Brick Garage with Loft - and changing it into something totally different.
The idea is to use Clevermodels textures for the brickwork, and the roof, which will be sheet metal. The rest will be made from card and wood.
At least, that's the plan!
I'm not sure what industry this could be, though it wont be a rail served structure. The layout is set in 1965 - any suggestions on what it could be would be most appreciated.
The idea is that the original garage structure has been built on top of, the roof removed and a new, flat work area with an enclosed staircase up to both it, and the timber and clapboard tower structure.

I intend to build the structure in the way it would have actually have been built in "reality".
So, the garage structure will take centre stage at the beginning of the build. On top of that, I'll add timber cross beams, and build upwards from there.
I'll post progress photos as and how it goes.

Went to Colorado Springs today, and on the way out of town decided to stop at the two railroad hobby shops in town.
The first one is going out of business. The owner is retiring, there are no buyers for the business and he is closing out.
At the next one, I was shocked to discover it just wasn't there at all. Went next door to a small restaurant and learned that a family death had been followed by a bunch of trucks that loaded everything and left. The shop is empty, the sign is gone and so is the business...the major N-scale supplier and sole Marklin dealership in this entire region.
The only model shop left is a two hundred mile round trip to Denver and back.
I fear for the future of this hobby in my area.
Besides that, rain, snow hail, sunshine and flood warnings. :?

| Industries for gondola containers? |

I'm looking for ideas for industries that might use the round containers that come with the N scale Atlas 42-foot gondolas. The containers are easily removed, but I thought it would be fun to discuss because they are ubiquitous in the hobby.
The first thing that comes to mind is cement, which was hauled in small containers before the widespread use of covered hoppers, but that seems difficult to justify in a Postwar setting. Any other suggestions?

This was just posted at RR-Line by jimdad1. He will be missed.
"Friends - I was informed this evening that Terry Jolliffe, Teejay as he was known here, passed away Thursday May 11 after a brief illness.
Per Terry's request, there was no local announcement nor funeral service.
I had been aware he was ill with a prognosis of only 6-8 weeks (!) - unfortunately, he made 5.
While I have no further information at this time, should that situation change, I'll be sure to post an update.
My deepest condolences to Terry's wife Bonnie along with the other members of their family."
