  Source for solid styrene rod
Posted by: nachoman - 09-02-2015, 02:46 PM - Forum: Scratchbuilding and kitbashing - All Scales - Replies (6)

I'm looking for some solid styrene rod about 1/4 to 3/8" diameter. I will use it to turn some steam locomotive domes. I know I can get Plastruct rods at the LHS, but was wondering if there was something that I could pick up at the dollar store (or free) that would work. It doesn't have to be styrene, but I need to be able to glue it to styrene. I thought about a plastic coat hanger, but it seems they are made out of the wrong kind of plastic. Anyone know of a common household item that I could use?

Krøderbanen Museum Railway, last day of the season
Posted by: Svein - 09-01-2015, 04:46 AM - Forum: International Rails - Replies (9)

Krøderbanen is Norway's longest museum railway, and last sunday was the final day of the season with trains operating. There were 4 trains (2 steam engines and 2 diesel railcars) running on a timetable between the two end stations Krøderen and Vikersund, with scheduled meets at the two intermediate stations Kløftefoss and Sysle.

Vigdis and I arrived at Krøderen on saturday and spent the night at a motell, before spending the entire sunday chasing trains back and forth between Krøderen and Vikersund (a distance of 25km / around 15 miles). Here's a link to some of the pics on a Norwegian forum. Sorry, the text in Norwegian only, but if anyone is interested I can make a repost in English on this forum:

We also have some videos, but they require editing before uploading.

  Adding Avatar

Hello
Have been trying to add this as my avatar but not being too computer savy, can't make it happen. Keeps saying it's too large. Have reduced it down to practically nothing (I think) but it still says its too large. Have been able to use the full size version on other forums. Can you help?
Thank you

Posted by: Fifer - 08-24-2015, 08:25 AM - Forum: N/Z and Smaller Modeling - Replies (5)

This thread will follow a door layout design and build to re-produce the look of Las Cruces New Mexico and Rincon New Mexico. This will be a movable display for the Southern New Mexico N Scalers club.
Hope you all enjoy the fun.
Mike

A guy in town was cleaning out his basement and gave this to me. It was never finished, but it is in rough shape. I will see what I can do with it. Here is how it looked when I got it.
