I just replied to a thread, and it no longer shows under view active topics, I reposted using the back button, and that post showed as a duplicate but when I returned to the "view active topics" the thread still doesn't show. I can find the thread by going to the posters user name (a newbie I wanted to welcome) but then it still doesn't show. I wonder if there are more threads that have disappeared from me.

Hi all, just signed up to this forum tonight.

I'm a newbie to American Railroading, & am in the process of planning/building a small layout, (initial info is on NMRA-gb forum).

As I have only just started, I seem to be collecting quite a bit of stock, or so I thought, until I read a thread on here.

Hedberg Aggregates is loosely modeled on a facility in Mt. Marion, NY that I used to go by daily on the school bus. I never learned the name of the company but it used to have a couple dozen Pennsylvania, NYC, B&O, and PC open hoppers on its several sidings. It was notable at night for the glowing red aggregate dropping out of its large kilns. My model is a greatly scaled back version! The Hedberg name comes from a local Yellow Pages ad that caught my eye.

All is quiet at Hedberg's right now....




I recently added the litte brick structure to give the company an office. It has a loading dock for supplies so I have one more place to spot a boxcar and a tank for machine lubricant that let's me deliver the occasional tanker.

Hello Folks,

What was the common practice for the location of a Hand car shed, especially on the Chesapeake&Ohio RR system? On a strategic point along the right-of-way, in the near of a yard or train station or both or in the train station?

Hope anybody can help.

As of now, I built a Hand car shed from wood, the Tichy Train Group plastic kit is my master pattern. Pics will follow!

I am in the planning stages of a small 18" x 15' switching layout, and came across the Surrountraxx system. It seems perfect - I have always hated the lack of bottom end on the speakers within a locomotive, and though that having an external speaker system especially on a small layout made a lot of sense. So, has anyone used this, or operated a layout where it was installed? It isn't cheap - but it seems like it would save the hassle of squeezing speakers into small spaces!

Hello guys,
New to model railroading and am wondering if the yard that I have designed makes sense as I am not super familiar with railroad operations( I know I should be...sorry). Layout is a relatively small wrap around the room Ho, in a 7x9 ft space. Any advice, tips, etc. would help me alot as I have found it tough to figure this one out. thanks!
