Anyone interested in railroad paper? I have numerous railroad paper, such as:

train lists, locomotive inspection reports, loco defect tags, siding reports, statioary, envelopes of all sizes, luggage tags (yes, luggage tags), letterhead blank paper, blank train orders.....the list goes on. To numerous to mention or list. I have about 5 cases of this stuff of all sorts of different roads. If anyone is interested, send me a list or road preference. I'll let you know what I have available for that road(s). Some unique and obsolete from roads long gone.

I also have maps, locomotive operating manuals, and hat badges (PC and B&M).

I'm a French railroad modeler. I would like to model the port of palm beach (fl) at ho scale. I discover this small harbor with interesting railroad operation with the book of Lance Mindheim. I will built it in modular section. It's an interesting harbor because it's very compact (for an harbor of course !) 30 feet long for 20 inches wide. It's perfect for a switching game.The traffic is various (oil, intermodal, container, concrete, sugar, box, wood, ...).

I find few photos on internet (the official site of the harbor of pal beach, train forum, ...). I find a lot of aerial view from bing.


I would like to know if anyone in this forum has photos on palm beach port to share with me ? I know the best way is to take a flight to miami and take photos but from france it's quite expensive.

Did engineers *really* wear blue pinstripe caps? Does anyone know the history behind this fashion cliche?

I have an Atlas Master Silver Series Dash 8-40CW that I got a little while back. Its brand new, and does not have a roadnumber. I also need to install the few details that dont come factory installed, so I will be doing that after patching.

I got some BNSF patch decals, so this one is going to be getting a patch job as well just like the SP SD45T-2's did. I have to do a little research to find one that is still in the old SF Warbonnet scheme that has been patched for BNSF, but in the meantime, here is a couple shots of the locomotive

I have 2 Athearn RTR SD45T-2's lettered for Southern Pacific, Roadnumbers 9173 & 9191. Ill be patching them with the yellow UP patches on the cabs, and leaving them in the SP paint.

Hey guys. So I have finally named the layout, and construction will begin soon.

Here's a basic rundown on the layout. It is called the Seven Mountains Railroad & Logging Co. and is set in the Seven Mountains area of PA and interchanges with the Penn Central. The line get most of its traffic from hauling machinery and portable sawmills up and down the mountains and shipping finished lumber. There is a four track yard in Boalsburg, PA, where it bases operations out of. The time that I'm modeling is roughly two weeks after the merger forming Penn Central from the PRR and NYC.

The motive power consists of models of East Broad Top's M-4(a Plymouth JCD), M-6(a Plymouth JDT), and the M-5 cow/calf set(a Plymouth TMDT), as well as a couple of EMD GP30s and an EMD GP7. The only other engine on the line to be used in revenue freight service will be an ALCo. RS-11. Just for fun, a two-truck Shay will be thrown in there to be used to run scenic trains on inactive pieces of line so as not to interupt the logging operations.

The entire commuter fleet will be scratchbuilt. The majority of the skeleton log cars will be purchased either as RTR(which doesn't exist to me) equipment, or as kits that I'll need to build. The milled lumber will be transported down the mountain on centerbeam flatcars, where two boxcars of lumber wrapping paper will be added to the consist and taken to our wrapping enclosure. It'll be wrapped there and then shipped. Another few lines will depart the main bound for State College or Boalsburg for light industrial shipping.

Ballast will be a mixture of culm from the old EBT culm pile in Mt. Union, kitty litter, tea leaves from used tea bags, and some soil. The item in the highest quantity will definately be the kitty litter, with a little bit of culm, tea leaves, and soil laced in there with it.

The Plymouth diesels will be the backbone of our logging fleet, while the TMDT diesels will be used as yard switchers. An ALCo. RS-11, a couple of EMD GP30s and an EMD GP7 will make up our industrial switching fleet.

I can't wait to start building the layout, but the first thing I'm going to be doing is getting the actual operating equipment in good, working order and getting the first batch of materials together. This should be lots of fun.

One thing for you Newbie and Amature Scratch builders (like myself) to keep in mind---Noahs Ark was built by amatures--the Titanic by professionals!!!

Does anyone know if MR or any other similar Model Railroad magazines or websites have published any plans for constructing storage cabinets for HO locos and rolling stock? My wife & I were thinking that they should be quite easy to make and you could do it fairly cheaply, etc. by using pine would and plexiglass for the sliding windows.
