My apologies to all for starting another thread on this subject, but a search of the threads didn't mention the specific problem I have come upon.

This kit was previously assembled by someone who really didn't know what they were doing. Nothing was broken, but parts were not tighened down, and some drive shaft gears were mounted improperly. I replaced all gears with NWSL parts and everything was going well during assembly. The gear box worked smoothly when I tested the motor on DC. The truck gears rotated smoothly when I tested them. I did remove all but one gear on the outer driveshaft. Nothing sticking or jamming, I was happy.

My next plan was to place each truck in turn on the frame and test the truck hooked up to the gearbox. This is where I found a little problem. The female end of the coupling that fits onto the truck worm shaft doesn't fit. The coupling has a hole diameter of 2.25mm and the truck worm shaft has a diameter of 2.15mm.

Index.html</a><!-- m --> I do not have the book published by Oso. All aspects of the rebuild seem to be covered by Garretfan.

I have placed a call to NWSL to see if they have a solution to this problem, or have even encountered it before. No answer, so hopefully, they'll call me tomorrow. In the mean time, I thought I'd post this on the forums to see if anyone else had encountered this problem and had come up with a solution.

My sons & I went to a really good MRR flea market today (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://trainweb.org/lmra/">http://trainweb.org/lmra/</a><!-- m -->). We are not usually able to get to many flea markets, as I'm usually able to pick up the MRR items I need from my local hobby shops, eBay or stalls at model train shows.

I noticed very quickly how willing vendors were to negotiate or lower their prices. In many cases, as soon as I started looking, they said they could do better on the price -- at that point, I was just looking! So, as time went on, I got "wise" to this and started to ask sellers if they would lower the price or I would make an offer.
Usually, when I visit MRR shows (as opposed to flea markets), sellers don't seem as flexible.

I was also pleasantly surprised that this flea market had a fair bit of MRR stuff I was interested in -- i.e. vintage as well as brand new 00 British model trains. The ironic thing was that I only came away with one small freight car while I bought my sons some toy motor cycles -- Go figure! ... Even though there were some deals there, I was feeling a little tight-fisted today -- or guilty -- because I've recently spent a fair bit on this hobby, even though I was tempted.

The show seemed fairly well attended even though we arrived a couple hours before closing. At any rate, am I just out of touch with the nature of flea markets or are MRR sellers suddenly more willing to negotiate? In either case, I think I've been missing out!

Snow plows, MU cables, model designations on the side cab, painted white number boards, plastic athearn handrails for the Geeps and SD's. For now I'm overall satified, but I was also thinking on adding atlas wipers and maybe some Lesile horns, I have one on already 8-)












The plows and MU cables were Details West.

My birthday was last month and I couldn't find anything I really wanted until I remembered the little 3mm T scale trains.

The layout potential for these things in a relatively small space boggles the mind.
I only wish they would come up with some American locos as well.

can anyone identify this photo or the railroad I think it might be midwest and might be a mill or mine road . the track work caught my eye and would like to learn more about it.

Hey, guys!
It's been a LONG time since I've been around these parts. I've missed y'all but other responsibilities have pretty much kept me away form my railroading hobby. (My train table is now home for our guinea pig's cage... )

All that aside, I need to do a little price checking if y'all don't mind.

One of the ladies that I work with brought in a Lionel O27 locomotive numbered 2034. It's diecast and the light works. She thought it smoked but everything I've found on the 2034s says they don't. She says her dad got it in 1956 or '57 and it came with a set of 4 cars which she also still has. (I'm guessing tender, two cars and a caboose.) She no longer has the track because it was nailed down to a table in her parents' basement and no one thought to salvage that. The locomotive appears to be in excellent condition for being over 60 years old and she says the cars are all in the same condition.

Can someone give me a ballpark figure for what this set might be worth? I have been seeing some really low prices for these on eBay but figured that the time of year and economy may be playing into that. Any info you can give me would be great!

Allrighty then! I cut the first of two holes in the wall to run my double mainline through. Obviously I need to do something so that if I get a derailment while passing through, I don't lose the trains in the abyss below. As I'm not a carpenter and I know that quite a few of you are, I ask - what's the best way to finish this off? I'm not concerned how the wall looks from the outside or inside as both will have portals to cover. What I'm at a loss for is what to do in between the two pieces of sheetrock?
