These are pages out of the previous edition of the Canadian Rules book, I think from just after the end of steam. Each indication has a rule number and employees are expected to know them.
As an example of ingenuity, if a bulb is burned out the signal must be interpreted at its most restricting possibility; I think this means assuming the bulb is red.
   
   
   

Note that the signals say nothing about routes; only about speeds. Some indications can be given with 1, 2, or 3 signal heads while others require all 3. Rules with 2 or 3 heads are usually at interlockings or yard approaches. 2 heads on the same side of the post are interlocking while 2 on opposite sides are block signals. (but see rules 287 and 288)
Also note the rules with letters on plates on the posts.

I found not just for laundry but i use them on my layout and work bench hot glued to the underside to hold diffrent objects so that i dont have to worry about knocking it off tabel top side or setting such as glue gun on layout as we most know foam and heat dont work well.

Are there any ways for me to increase electrical pick-up on a brass locomotive that only picks up from 4 wheels (Wheels, NOT wheel sets). It only pulls power from two wheels on one side of one end of the locomotive, and two wheels on the opposite truck and side.

While i suspect there is more to it's poor performance, i think the track pickups warrant improvement. Is there anyway for me to fabricate some?

I received this link off of the Santa Fe list. It is a very interresting interview with an old timer who started as a fireman with the Santa Fe in 1938 and advanced to engineer at the beginning of WW2.

I put this together this afternoon, a battery powered test track. I thought it would be a good idea to bring to the train shows and keep out on the table. Because It's battery powered, I don't need a power source. I'll give it a shot at the show in Allentown PA on Saturday. I still have to put together a charger for it later.    

   

   

Another industry in the Hobby Industrial park. Bulk potatoes in from Colorado, bagged potatoes shipped out by truck, and possibly by rail, although I have never seen any boxcars sitting at the doors on the spur. They also load potatoes in bulk onto trailers, I guess fro delivery to Farmer's Markets and grocery stores.

I've seen them unloading potatoes from the reefers before. The potatoes are in the reefers in bulk, not in boxes or anything, just a reefer full of potatoes. They put the unloading ramp (the equipment between the reefers) up to the door, open it, and flood the car with water essentially washing the potatoes out into a trough and somehow from there they end up in the building. Then an employee gets in with a scoop and helps any stragglers on out of the reefer. Notice the pond at the side of the building, I suppose this is the washout water... it takes alot to flood the potatoes out of the cars.

The machinery that is near the road in the photos is what they use to load potatoes onto the trailers.

Well, between 1993 and 1995 sometime. I went with my family to Horseshoe Curve outside Altoona, Pa. Talk about timing... not 30 seconds after I arrived at the train watching area a TV train was rounding the curve. One 89' flat car with trailer load was rocking heavily, resulting in the car rolling onto it's side.

The train went into emergency stopping a little ways down the hill past the signal. The rear of the train had enough momentum that it caught up to the front half and slammed into it, causing this...

You can barely see the tops of the derailed cars and trailers in the trees. A better view could be had from the street below.

I came back the next day and the flat car had been moved to clear up a second track for passage of trains.

And a truck brought in to pick up the boxes of detergent that had been spilled and transload the remaining contents of the trailer.

As mentioned in my Gordon Trucking Thread, I have been working on a Old Dominion Freight Lines 48' trailer. I got most of the decals applied to the trailer, but there still is quite a bit of work that needs to be done to it. In the meantime, here are some pics of the trailer as it is now:

As mentioned in my Gordon Trucking thread, I have been working on a couple Watkins Motor Lines trailers as well. Ive only got the trailers decaled so far, and parts are on their way to finish these ones off as well. I ordered a Ford Aeromax truck to decal for Watkins Motor Lines that will be used with these 2 trailers I figure I can have the truck hooked up to the 28'er and make it look as if the driver is switching trailers at a building dock with the 48'er...

Here are the pictures of the 28' pup trailer. The Mack CH 603 that is hooked up to the trailer is only a temporary placement, I needed a truck to hook up to the trailer for the pictures because I cut the trailers landing gear to represent the "up" position for a trailer that is on the road instead of the molded "down" position that would be seen when the trailer is dropped at a dock.

I don't know, but I was out railfanning the Dubuque, Davenport, and St. Louis railroad this afternoon, and took these photos:
