Where will Scale55 get standard gauge equipment for interchange with 55n3?

On3 cars become standard gauge cars for the era with some rework. Bachmann On30 supplies 5 foot wheelbase trucks. These can be widened to accommodate 28" O scale wheels to make Scale 55 standard gauge trucks.



The Bachmann On30 Mogul can be reworked to become a small 0-6-0 switching loco with a new frame and HO 80" drivers.

In HO, I used a CMX clean machine and sometimes Labelle oil on my rails and I had very good conduction. All my engines were Atlas master gold.

Now in N, I am having issues with stalls and poor conductivity with my Atlas engine. Is this a common problem in N? In HO, there were wires running to the trucks, now in N I have these copper contacts. One of my engines is Proto 1000 and it works very well. My other engine is Atlas and I really don't think that both trucks are always getting power. I bought a CMX N clean machine, but it doesn't seem to work as well as the HO one. Thoughts, suggestions?

I finally got to begin an "under the layout" Diorama. It's called Kelly's Kaverns. I thought of it about 5 years ago and always wanted to get to it. I finally got rid of the wires that were hanging down (first pic on right - Picture is 10 years old.) and built a "wire race" out of wood. Note the "edge" of the layout in the 2 pics.

Dr. Wayne, I plan to build a fleet of "door and a half" Wood-sided, steel underframe/end boxcars, and was wondering which car would be an ideal starting point for such a conversion? A friend suggested the Tichy USRA rebuild model, but do you have any other suggestions too?

How should I approach the half-sized (4' usually) door? I know you've made a number of these, and I'd love to see what you can dig up.

I just got an email from a friend in Denmark. He has a friend in the States that is into some model railroad structures. They are for a newer era, but look nice.
Jeffery probably knows all about him as they are located in Lake Charles.

We are converting our N 2TRAK layout to a On30- 2TRAK layout this year.I am hoping to keep this thread updated with photos once we get into it.Other than stripping everything N off of the modules we will be rasing the modules 8".This will most likely be the first photo essay I do.

For the NTRAKer's in the crowd we have/had two NTRAK layouts though we removed the inner track from this one several years ago.I am hoping to make this a fairly useful thread for the modular folk in our little group here.

The reason for the change up is ,Bill and I are both narrow gauge fans with locos and rolling stock but no real place to run them.Aside from that we both have home HO layouts (both are quite small) plus two more at club to run on.Sooo we decided to change this kayout one last time. :mrgreen:

I do have some construction pics (when I find them) to post.

I model the transition era and not thinking I made a Gern covered hopper that is to large for my time line. It wont even fit under the roof area of the silos.



It is not a perfect car as you can see in some of the photos but nothing major. this was my first attempt at making decals.





The price is you pay postage and it is yours. Ideally if you have a Gern facility and need a covered hopper here is one painted for Gern of West Virginia that can find its way to another location. It is an HO scale Athearn BB with original trucks and Kadee couplers.
