I think I did a good thing here. Recently, I've become interested in the paraphernalia surrounding Rail Roads. I've always liked the brakemen's lanterns hanging in the LHS (George's Trains...none for sale unfortunately...) So I went hunting on e-bay. Didn't take me long to find this one.

Has the original red glass globe and the burner still intact. Looks like it is in relatively good shape and hasn't been painted like some of the other ones I've come across. In my searches I also found some which I thought were really nice except when I read that the seller wanted $400 bucks for it and it had replica plastic lenses? Ahh...no.

Sorry pal you want 400 buckaroos, make sure it has the original glass lenses...INTACT!

Well...silly or not, it will look good in my layout area and add some decor to the space. I'm looking out for other bits and pieces, like yard limit signs...that kind of stuff.

Hi guys have invested £7.000 in kato locos and fleischmann piccolo track my problem is have 10ft sq train room but most of my high speed european loco gome at 125cm long have bonn station built to allow for 6 lines int and out plus karsberge station already built to allow for 6 lines into and out of station also would like industries turntable bridges tunnells ect any help would be a real help please.mike PS ALL OPERATIN SYSTEN LENZ 100 DCC

It's not a train - but it's still neat from an engineering standpoint.

Ok guys show your stuff! I'mto the point where I have to start putting signals in on my layout and cant seem to find any clear input as to what signals are prototypical to this era in railroading. I model the PennCentral in Eastern PA and Jersey in Nscale.
Let me know what I can do.

As mentioned in another thread, my family & I have visited a few live steam events recently. This past Saturday, we went to the Richmond Hill Live Steamers which is located in the country on a beautiful wooded property on the Oak Ridges Moraine, about 45 minutes north of Toronto.

I took some 65 pics but here are are few to start with. There are at least 3 gauges of track there. There are the really large locos where you climb into a car to ride on and the much smaller ones where your legs straddle the track (I'm not familiar with these outdoor gauges!). Of course, we love the live steam models and even tolerate the odd diesel. :mrgreen:

There was a really nice larger-gauge Mikado that was a real treat to ride on as well as a (a Mogul, IIRC). There were several in the smaller gauges, a few tank engines and a really nice British City of London Pacific.

So these pics show two shots of the large Mikado, one of the City of London Duchess Class and one showing a Chessy diesel. This was an open house event so there were several other locos there that day.

Well I was hoping to have posted a few projects I was hoping to complete this summer but it seems my plans to get a lot of projects done were doomed before they even got started. The house we live in and rent was put up for sale so we decided to see about buying a house. Well needless to say finding one with a good basement or a suitable spare room for a decent sized layout proved to be hard. So with winter not that far off and the house were living in off the market now we have decided to stay put to spring. This means I can finally get some quality time in my shop.

My last big project was my brass Canadian National N-5-d 2-8-0 rebuild complete with DCC & sound.
   

I did manage to start and finish another locomotive rebuild. A brass Canadian National J-4-e Pacific. This one also got DCC & sound. I was going to post the rebuild on the 4-6-2 but a crash of the hard drive on my laptop computer left me with no photos. Now it was not a big loss as there was not much work to be done on it. I installed a new gearbox, can motor, new drivers for the #1 and #2 axles and fixed a few bad solder joints.

...a layout. Thought I'd post a photo of the first display of several that I'm working on. It isn't finished, of course!! If you look closely, you may notice there seems to a theme to that consist.!!

   

Im going to be dismantleing my current layout to rebuild, and I realize that I cant use some od the stuff in it, Im wondering if there is a way to remove and reuse the pink foam board thats quite securely attached to the layout with construcktion adhesive. Id also like to reuse some of the coark roadbed since my layout has SO much of it and I want to keep costs doen as much as possible. Its all been glued with white glue and more adhesive, is there a way to take it off and remove the chunks of glue stuck to the bottom? If I need to buy these new, I can, just want to try and be resourceful.


I do know however that track can be reused, but I had it all glued in place, again,..with white glue and when I pull it up it tends to hold the shape it was layed in (Im using flex track), is there a way to get the "flex" back into it?

We are pleased to officially announce the second annual Northeast Fallen Flags Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet which will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the LH Taylor Firehouse, 7 Maryland Avenue, High Bridge, NJ 08829. The hours are 9 AM until 6 PM; Admission is $20.00 at the door the day of the meet; An Italian food luncheon is included with your admission, and door prizes will be raffled during the meet.

High Bridge is easily accessible from Interstate 78, Routes 22 and 31, and County Road 513, and is not far from Routes 202, 206, 46, I-287 and I-80. While there is no Saturday service on New Jersey Transit's Raritan Valley Line to High Bridge, there is service to Somerville and/or Raritan so if you would like to take the train, please let us know so that we can try to arrange for volunteers to provide transfer service between Somerville or Raritan and High Bridge.

As with all RPM meets, the main focus of this gathering is for modelers to get together and bring any models they are working on or have finished, for display, discussion and of course, learning. In addition to the model display, clinics by well known modelers are planned on modeling topics as well as prototype information. Select vendors will be in attendance to offer their wares as well.

Dave Goessling: Dave will present an update on his self-guided tour of the High Bridge area from last year, identifying local railroad and industrial landmarks; the station, wye, Taylor Wharton plant and railroad, etc. and is also working on the Pittstown and Musconetcong branches of the LV.

David Ramos: An update on his New York Harbor layout, and how he operates his busy HO scale layout.

Jerry Dziedzic: Jerry will share with us how he is rebuilding his HO scale NY&W/L&HR layout, and tell us about why he chose to build a new layout, and what he's learned in the process.
