The Summer Train on Norwegian television and web
Posted by: Svein - 07-01-2017, 07:11 AM - Forum: Upper Berth - Replies (1)

Every day (except Sundays and Mondays) between June 26 and August 19, NRK (the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) are sending live from their Summer Train, which will travel across (almost) the entire Norwegian Railroad network, from Bodø in the far north, visiting both Western and Southern Norway, before ending at the Swedish border in the southeast.

You can follow the train live on https://www.nrk.no/sommer/ (sorry, in Norwegian only), or watch the different episodes on https://tv.nrk.no/serie/sommertoget-minutt-for-minutt.

  Potential Switching Layout
Posted by: wollastonblue - 06-27-2017, 04:01 AM - Forum: Layouts - Replies (6)

Greetings from the UK.

Although I am currently building a Swiss layout using the Kato RhB stock. I am designing a US Ho switching layout.

Using my favoured APA style boxes as a base for the layout.

Railpictures.net has provided me with a lot of food for thought. This photo has really caught my eye:

http://www.railpictures.net/photo/314729/

I really like the look of the Genset locomotives particularly in BNSF, UP, CSX livery. Am I right in thinking the reefer behind the loco on this photo is a 64ft Trinity Reefer?

More ponderings have come and plays on Anyrail have led me to the plan below.

Key to Cars:

Yellow - Genset
Turquoise - 50ft Boxcars
Orange - 64ft Trinity Reefer
Purple - 3800ft3 Cylindrical Hopper
Pink - 62ft Gondola
Black - 55ft Tank Car

This plan is based on using 3 APA boxes similar to my Swiss layout. They are easy to build, and store when not working on or running trains.

Do people have any experience with Atlas Gensets and longer freight cars with Peco Setrack points?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi! I'm New Here with a Small Layout
Posted by: ApartmentModelRRer - 06-24-2017, 07:45 PM - Forum: Upper Berth - Replies (26)

Hi, I'm Joseph

Longtime model railroader and builder currently on my 3rd layout. I rent, so I have a small, portable layout built from 3 modules. I grew up near the Southern Pacific tracks in the San Fernando Valley, the Burbank Branch, which I've based this and my previous layouts on.

Please take some time to visit my flickr and youtube page for tons of pictures and video.

Thank you!
