  Removing fingerprints question
Posted by: twilight - 09-05-2016, 08:01 AM - Forum: Tips and Tricks - Replies (6)

What can I use to remove fingerprints from my finished hopper cars Curse . I discovered them this morning when I was putting the coal loads in. Hopper cars have already been weathered. looks like the prints were left from my oily fingers. I don't want to damage the weathering and I'm trying to avoid a re-paint.

Any help,

Mark

  The EH&S Version ??
Posted by: Trains Winnipeg - 08-31-2016, 09:17 PM - Forum: N/Z and Smaller Modeling - Replies (14)

Well, this year has been full of changes. Moved back across the country, new job etc... This also meant the end of the previous version of my layout http://bigbluetrains.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=472, it did go dormant for the better part of two years due to work.

So now on to the new layout, in the new wide open basement... 2285_ It will still be the same ERA of 66-72, with my own road running over some familiar Lehigh Valley territory and names. A big thank you to Bob Sprague at http://www.annapolisjunctionrr.com for doing the design as I was a little stumped. Track will all be code 55 atlas, on traditional cookie cutter benchwork with signals and detection along the way. More to come soon.

  HO Operating Open Hoppers
Posted by: sailormatlac - 08-27-2016, 10:41 AM - Forum: HO Modeling - Replies (2)

Hi,

I'm looking for infos about HO operating hopper cars (for coal, gravel or sand). Most models that existed were relatively toyish, but it seems the old Ulrich 3-bay one was - for its time - quite decent. If anybody here has the said car, I'd be curious to see images of the mechanism. I'd like to experiment a little bit with some cars I had.

Well, to some point, I'd be curious if I could merge an Ulrich operating metal underframe with a newer and more detail hopper shell. Yes, I know it's crazy.

Best regards,

Matt

PID Settings of Econami Sound Decoders
Posted by: Schraddel - 08-27-2016, 09:57 AM - Forum: DCC - No Replies

Hello!

Here i will only list my settings for the motor control CVs:

NEW Atlas ALCO RSD-4 (the motor looks alike as one of these Mabuchi 180 Type, no cogging was perceptible when turning the motor by hand) :
CV10: BEMF cutout 0
CV 67: 1
CV 68: 3
Then a straight line to
CV94: 92
CV209: KP Coefficient 80
CV210: KI Coefficient 20
CV211: Low-Speed Compensation 20
CV212: BEMF Feedback Intensity 255 (100%)
CV213: BEMF Sample Period 9
CV214: BEMF Sample Aperture Time 15
CV215: BEMF Referece Voltage 150
CV216: Motor Speed Step Deadband 2
CV217: Motor Control Register 10
CV218: Analog Mode Motor Start Voltage

Please note, there are some differencies compared with the hitherto PID adjustings of Tsunamis before.
For further reading: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.soundtraxx.com/manuals/Econami_Diesel_Users_Guide.pdf">http://www.soundtraxx.com/manuals/Econa ... _Guide.pdf</a><!-- m -->

With these settings i got my Atlas RSD-4 to a mere crawling, setting in move without any jerks.

Greetings Lutz
