For any of you that use MRC DCC, MRC just advised us via the Yahoo group that they are working with the JMRI folks to make their systems compatible too.
Here is the message:
We at MRC would like to make our customers aware that we are working with the folks at JMRI so that Prodigy users can use this software. It is not yet complete but should be very soon. Thanks for all of your support of the MRC Prodigy Systems.

The River Point Station F350 crew cab pickups are out, among them one in UP and one in BNSF. The railroads have lots of pickups, some Ford, some Chevy, some GMC, some Ram, in a lot of different variations. Here are the River Points:

Here are a couple of prototype examples that are close, but not quite. (There are so many variations that I certainly can't say the River Points are definitely right or definitely wrong.)

River Point offers a plain white pickup in a hi rail version, but not one lettered for a railroad. (Some organizations like Herzog have plain white hi-rails.) I'm a little sorry that River Point didn't include the web site lettering on the BNSF version or other letters, numbering, etc on either.

And why is Walthers leaving money on the counter by not bringing out its Boley trucks with railroad lettering?

Not sure if it is the right place to post abotu this, but I'm taking a chance.

From a railfan perspective, I was curious was the value in $ of a RDC Budd Car nowadays. I ask, because I cannot find info about it on the used market. I'm curious to see how much it is worth compared to actual modern units. According to numbers I've found here and there, a modern autorail would be somewhere between 4 to 6$M, depending on the order.

Not liking the too short cylindrical stacks for my Santa Fe & LAJ ALCO S-2/S-4-4 models by Atlas & Bachmann, had David Cutting of Cutting Edge Scale Models do the stacks thru Shapeways. The Santa Fe ones are rectangular & not cylindrical. The LAJ stacks are cylindrical but taller. Attached images of Santa Fe & LAJ stacks on Bachmann S-2 models.
Anyone know if these 2 types were used by any other RRs?
If you would like to get any of these stacks, email me at lajrmdlr AT gmail.com. There's 16 stacks per sprue. All my ATSF & LAJ modeler friends "gobbled up" my first batches but will be getting 2 more sprues of each type by 6/11/14. They will be soaked in Bestine 24 hours so they so they turn white & will take paint.

To our friends, customers, suppliers and dealers:

The staff at Alpine Division Scale Models, L.L.C. is retiring and will close the manufacturing part of our business by the end of the 2014.

At this time we can still fill orders.

Most of the equipment at our factory is for sale. The rights to our products are also for sale.

We would like to thank everyone for the past 18 years, it has been fun.

In the future we will be setting up at various shows and hope to see you.
