Fremo Southwest Division Meeting Mutschelbach 2014 (Germany)
Posted by: Schraddel - 06-02-2014, 04:15 AM - Forum: Modular Modeling - Replies (11)

Hello!

Last weekend and it was a long weekend because Thursday was a Ascension and the following Friday many people took one their holidays. So there were 4 days in following of free time.
So the Fremo Southwest Division set up a module meeting in Mutschelbach near Karlsruhe during this time. As the name tolds the Southwest Division "plays" mainly in the US southwest.

Still busy at work setting up buildings, scenery details, vehicles and at least rolling stock.

More of these?

This ex SOO loco was at the Mannheim Yard Engine House, only info available on it is that it's not going to the Shore River RR.

Vac-U-Form, yep that toy from your childhood
Posted by: nvrr49 - 05-30-2014, 11:05 AM - Forum: Tools - Replies (1)

Well, only if you remember the 1960's. I picked one up and figured I would use it for making vehicle windows, but ended up coming up with other uses first.

A row boat and a canoe under construction.

Just for the sake of keeping better track of who's in which challenge, please use this thread only for letting us know which category you want to enter. I've moved the challenge list to here. Post your comments and stuff in the other thread, that's fine....

  Tank car buffer cars
Posted by: Rscott417 - 05-28-2014, 10:59 PM - Forum: Strictly Rail Operations - Replies (18)

Do tank cars carrying corn syrup or vegetable oils require a buffer car between them and a locomotive? If they do does the same go for when they're empty (not cleaned)?

  Layout plan help
Posted by: Genetk44 - 05-28-2014, 11:40 AM - Forum: Layouts - Replies (2)

Gents….I'm starting construction of my next layout and need some help.

I'm almost finished the baseboards…3 boards each 4ft x 1ft….I'm figuring about 8-8 1/2 feet of scenic area and the rest to sector plate/fiddle yard. As you can see i'll have plenty of room to play with.

I'll probably multi-mode both in locale (NA and UK) and timeframe (grouping to 1960). HO/OO.

What I'm looking for is either a nice, not-overly crowded with track, harbour/port layout…I was thinking something that might be used with and without a car-float.

So I've gone through my collection of magazines and my track planning books including Rices books but haven't seen anything that I'm totally thrilled with, I did see a couple that I might use…but they aren't my first choice.

Any suggestions or help would be gratefully appreciated.

Cheers
Gene

  AF350's Scratchbuild 2014 summer challenge
Posted by: AF350 - 05-28-2014, 08:32 AM - Forum: Contests & Challenges - Replies (66)

I will be scratch building a smallish coaling tower loosely based on a pic from a kit box from model power, the kit is HO but the scratch build will be O scale and S scale friendly, basing door dimensions on an O-27 sized figure that measures 6' in O scale not including the figure base. For the most part I will be using what I have on hand, some wood , styrene, cardstock and maybe some casting resin, NO 3D printing I promise Smile

Pics to follow shortly.
