Latest G scale/gauge addition to my collection of cheap Battery op train sets this one is a 1:32 scale German loco with a stock car and flat car with very low side gondola look to it and also came with two figures and some live stock.

Are there situations in which a car might be moved by a train from one industry to another w/o it being sent to a freight yard first? For example...is it prototypical that a gondola loaded with scrap metal might be picked up at a scrap business and then be directly set out at a steel mill?

In my rolling stock there is an Athearn RTR SW1500 switcher which tended to run jerky and was stalling often in the last time.
Researching the problem lead to inconsistent current pick up as cause.


Small pieces of 0.3mm bronce wire were soldered onto the metal strips in the trucks. 8 pieces in all forming direct wipers onto the wheels.

Needless to say all stalling and jerking disappeared instantly.

Well, I try to keep my busy. I am in to also to cars and try to keep my first gen Sebring LTD conv. in shape and spend loads of time with my guitars or at gym. I also am in to photography, driving and paintings. With paintings and photography I have had a few exebitions thay have gone pretty well and I paint and photograph mostly landscapes as I love taking on vacations my car and camera to Norway, which is a incredible country.

With Music I do have a small studio and is planning to do some recordings and as i am a metal fan, you might guess what the recorded stuff will sound like. I play guitars and bass and own several of them. I also have a old synth which i will use too, though I am not a keyboard player. Drums will be dealth with a drum machine. Music seems to be everywhere i am and I stumble to differnt Projects, mostly then to promotion, photograbhy and some CD-covers.

I bought the car 2 years ago and have been upgrading its shape. I have the belts replaced once I bought it so it will in good mechanical shape for now. the body is rust free and I have dealt with aminor corrosion underneath. It is nice top down ride in sunny day and it nice to cruise around and listen to music.

I wish I had more time to paint but it usually does take time as I paint mostly in gouche, which is a water colors that covers as nice as acrylics so my way of painting is not exactly the usual stuff you see with water colors. I am playing on the ideas of paintings of cars aswell. But all that will be when i get time for it. Maybe if I am in the mood, I have a open house when the tourist season starts over here in July. As I previously have worked with events, I can pretty easily do a classy arrangements.

Gym is fun, mostly for it pushes all the limits you have both physically and mentally and it is nice to feel the reward you get from a decent work out. I am not doing it for the beach season, just for fun of it. besides it is nice also have a long walks wheter with Company or my own.

Photography i have done on and off for years, as hobby, semi proffessionally and also to catch scenes and places I love to paint some day so I have loads of them when I get to paint. Semi professionally I worked with bands, some famous some just locals, the local hockey team and companies. I also have it with me when railfanning or just photograph whatever intersting protoypes I find. Plenty of railfanning photos can be found on my website http://www.olaviahokas.com/trainstuff

All that has prevented me from building a layout but I guess I have so many ideas that I guess I can incorporate the best of to the day when I get that going.

Dear Model Power Customers,

After nearly 50 years serving the hobby industry, our 3rd generation family business will be closing effective immediately to the public. We will be reaching out to our clients over the next few weeks to settle any demand needs that they may have.

In 2007, our banks began an aggressive deleveraging process. They no longer approved of a profitable and paying client such as ours, which had been reliant on inventory. This is why one of the industry's most extensive lines, had begun to see much of its products unavailable on the market. Now it will no longer be seen at all.

During these past 7 years, we had made changes to the business in order to accommodate and adjust to the changing nature of the business relationship with our lenders. We had offered multiple solutions to our lenders in order to "fix" our situation, all were rejected, came with different restrictions, or offered too little too late. In all our efforts, no arrangements by our lenders would allow for Model Power to arrive at a position in which we could get back to fill our customer needs.

My layout needs more LPBs. My issue is era - there isn't much available for my time period, and they are more than I want to spend. Years ago I bought a box of cheap Atlas unpainted figures, and have a few left over. The problem is, they are in ridiculous poses, look like many are either doctors or military personnel, or are wearing way to modern clothing. But, being impatient, I thought I could cut some up and see what I could do.

The woman on the left began as a seated woman with her left arm kinda sticking out for no reason. She was wearing some kind of shorts and a short sleeve blouse. Way too modern for my 1920 timeframe. So, I cut her arm at the elbow, filed the cut edges at an appropriate angle, and re-glued her arm so it was directed at her lap. I then made a longer dress for her by plopping a blob of epoxy on her legs and then filing/sanding to shape. Her hat is a disk of styrene glued down over the top of her head (with the crown of her head sticking through the disc). I then put a blob of putty on the center of the hat and sanded that round. The rest is just paint.

The man/boy on the right started off as a man seated on some kind of chair that looked like a toilet. My first step was to remove the chair with a hobby knife and files. I then had to fix a deformed foot from where he was attached to the base. I used a tiny scrap of styrene for this. His hat is made the same way as the woman's - a disc of styrene glued around his head with the sides bent up. After I seated him on the bench, I noticed his feet didn't hit the floor Either he was meant to be a child or was modeled to a different scale. Either way, he can be the woman's 10 year old son.

These are a few of the works of art created back in the mid to late 1900's by Paul Smith, a man with cerebral palsy. These were sent by a friend, and as usual, I checked it out to find out that this story is true. They are remarkable since they were all created using just a typewriter, mostly with the upper character keys such as: @#$&*.... Some of you might have already seen these, but this is my first time.
