What have any of you tried to repair a bearing socket that has enlarged itself? The offending bearing socket is in a side frame of a brass Mikado frame of a Bowser L-1. I can see the bearing wiggle and when the locomotive is on the rails, the 1st driver rises off the rail at slow speeds causing the locomotive to wobble a bit. I just quartered all the drive wheelsets tonight thinking I had one alittle out of line and hadn't noticed the sloppy bearing until I put everything back together .

I'm here again asking for a little help

Did anyone have any experience railfanning the Oaks Point yard on Bronx? Would it be ok to stay on Garrison Ave for a couple hours to take pics by the fence?

Also, is that area on Bronx safe during daylight hours? I've heard that the Hunts area is a point were we have to be a little carefull

Also, is there any other options someone can recomend for railfanning around the Big Apple? Heard about that NYAR Fresh Pond yard is a good spot but since there's no street view by its side we need to count on guards good will to take some pics and stay on the area.

The beads are a little large for the smaller poles. I tried different methods, but what seems to work best is cutting off the plastic insulators from a "decommissioned" Bachmann pole. The hardest part is gluing the tiny insulators on.

Well I finally got tiered of looking at this broken piece of ( add your own adult language here ) and started to fix it. This locomotive has been nothing but a headache ever since I opened the box, and I refuse to send any more money to the manufacture for repair parts, "(more adult language)" them,, I can fix it parts from my own stock.

I grabbed a replacement Micro-Marc motor that I had from a different project and marked some "cut" lines in the two part frame and went Dremel crazy.

With the space cut out I gave the new drive a test fit.

My next problem is that I have cut one shaft of the motor short to fit whatever it had come out of. I used a section of black tubing to join it to the fly wheel on the right side of the pic. It dose wobble a lot like this, but it is just a test to see if it will work, I'm sure I can dig up another motor.

We might have asked this question a long time ago, but since things have changed over the years, and my mind can only remember so much before it starts to dump old info, so I'll ask again.

We have four different "styles" here, our default is "TheGaugeDark", which is the white text on a blue background. This is a carryover from the original Gauge forums, and where we got our current name. Some people have difficulty reading the white letters, so we added three more styles with dark text on a light background to make it easier for these folks to read. These styles are, "TheGaugeLite", "prosilver" and "subsilver2". Each one of these is slightly different than the others.

Just to see how many people use each style, we would like you to select the style you use in this poll. If you're not sure, go to your "user control panel", select "board preferences", and you will find a line there that tells you. If there are any specific problems or gripes with any of these styles, feel free to voice them here. Mikey, Packey and myself will discuss these issues and depending on how difficult they are to implement, if we even can because of software restrictions, we will see what we can do.
