I dug up some more old photos from the Penvan Railroad Historical Society's archives.

Here's a Delaware & Hudson box car being pulled from the Whist Manufacturing Company's siding after being loaded with round tooits (75% right handed and 25% left handed). It's being shipped to Potomac Yard for delivery to the Round Tooit distributors Ltd. in Potomac, MD.



Here's the D&H box car being placed at the interchange with another outbound car, an empty GERN covered hopper that's going to Clifton Forge, VA.

I dug up some old photos from the Penvan Railroad Historical Society's archives.

Here's their first diesel locomotive, GE 45 tonner #2 picking up a load of GERN Flux for the RU Ready Mix plant and a B&O wagon top box car for the Whist Manufacturing Company.



Penvan Railroad's GE 45 tonner # 2 drops off the covered hopper of GERN Flux at the RU Ready Mix Plant so that they can produce concrete that's 3% harder.



Penvan #2 picks up the empty GERN covered hopper 2 days later for a trip back to the interchange.



And here's where the crew sets it out at the interchange back to Clifton Forge, VA with a D&H box car of round tooits (75% right handed and 25% left handed) going in the same general direction to Potomac, MD on the Baltimore & Potomac Railroad.

I have been tossing the idea around of building one of the CNJ's heavy Mikes. In particular # 903. I do have some nice pics of both sides of the engine, but I could use some better pics and or drawings of the 6 axle Lima built tender that they used. I do have some basic dimensions, but a more detailed set is needed before I can start. I have heard of a Lima loco historical group but have not been able to find a way to contact them for help.

Here are a few pics of what I am going for. Both pics show the 21,000 gallon - 24 ton tender behind the subject that I am planning on modeling. She is almost 49 feet long and stands 14 feet high at the coal bunker and 12 feet at the cistern.

Jack's Jersey Mercantile needs a boxcar loaded with GERN flux for the Gern NJ Distribution warehouse. Since his layout is set in the transition era I'm going back in time a couple of decades to document the movement of NY Central 50 ft. boxcar 80775.

It all starts at GERN Industries located in West Mill, NY.


The KP&W "Float Turn", working industries near the Float Yard, pulls 80775 and a Reading box from the loading bay under the GERN plant.

I was going to do a thread about an operations scenario on my layout. The only way I see to do it would be a one by one upload of pictures and text. I have it written in word including pictures but there is no way to post it internally to link to. I could upload it to my web site and link to it but this just seems to be the hard way, and not everyone has a web site.
I won't post pictures with a third party account because I have seen too many empty boxes with photos missing. I also think the five pictures in a post at a time upload rule is no longer a good thing when really there are no limits to the number of total pictures. If you want to post more you add another post which at times ruins the continuity of the post.
At the very least could we select more than one picture at a time for the picture uploads? I have selected and uploaded up to 400 at a time with yahoo and google plus.

As part of the Banning Centennial Train Festival a series of model railroad clinics will be presented. All clinics will be held in the Banning Community Center, 789 N. San Gorgonio Avenue, Banning, CA.

The $5.00 Festival admission includes the clinics as well as the modular railroad displays, swap meet (Saturday only), model contest room and train exhibitors/ vendors. The admission is good for both days. Parking is free.

Here's a little cafe that I built about 10 or so years ago. I tried to scratchbuild as much as possible, windows, door and such and did have to use some cast parts such as the pot belly stove, chairs, radio, phone, cash register and others, and it makes an interesting building.

Here is a very old rebuild. I guess that it was Done 20 or so years ago. It started off as an undecorated Athearn locomotive. The cast in front grill was cut out and replaced with louvers and a mesh grill. The Milwaukee Road spark arrestors and wagon wheel antenna, pilot details and other details were added. The motor was replaced with a can motor, and constant & directional lighting was installed. Evan after 20 some years later, this little locomotive is still an exceptionally smooth running unit, as good as or better than new locomotives on the market today. Should have built a few more.

Here we go again!!!

I know there aren't that many members in the area, but I want to remind those that are close by, that Lester & I are once again part of the Open house Tour in Delaware and Pennsylvania respectively.

I'm open October 26th and Lester is open November 9th and 10th... There are a mind boggling (mind numbing??) 124 layouts of all scales in the area and some are open 2 or 3 times (Like Lester) that provide 202 opportunities to visit other layouts... For the first time, on October 27th there is a Live Steam club open.. I'm already planning my visit!!

Note that you guys in New Jersey do have a few close to you!!!! If you go - Take pics and post them here!!! They are open November 9th.
