My girlfriend bought this big roll of cloud paper at a teaching supply store for her classroom. I thought some creative and frugal person may want to try this as a cheap backdrop. The clouds don't get smaller as they get closer to the horizon, but if you hide the edge with trees or building flats, it may look okay.

Hi all. pretty sure its been over a year since Ive posted.... But between being busy for work and it being to warm in the basement where the train is in the summer... the layout hasnt had much attention. But regardless, I have managed to get a little done on it. And being on here looking at some pictures and reading some threads I kinda have the modeling bug back so hopefully I have a little more progess in the near future.

Anyway, I have a few pictures I took with my kindle. But I cant post them directly to here with the kindle. So I was hoping somebody could give me a little help figuring out how to get them onto my computer so I can upload them.

We have been hinting over the past few months that one day soon, we are going to move to a new server. Well, that time is now. We need to expand our server space, and so our new server is going to have the extra storage and bandwidth that we need for the next whole bunch of year.

First of all, nothing will change, unlike in the past where a change like this would either give us new software or screw things up royally in some other way, everything will look and act the same. All posts and the gallery will be transferred intact and we will not be changing software. The only difference will be that the chat room will be missing for now. The one we have been using is no longer supported, so if we decide we still need one, Packey (our webmaster) will find us one we can use.

Now, in order to do this we will have to shut down for a bit, so starting sometime Friday night, July 26, we will have to shut things down until we have everything working at the other end. we would hope for this to happen sometime Saturday, or possibly as late as Sunday. Once we are back up, you will know it using the same URL that you have been using all along.

I repeat, we will be shut down starting Friday night, July 26, and will come back on sometime over the weekend. The sooner you see us back up, the most likely it is that we had fewer glitches in doing this. Packey, will lead the pack and will be doing the work. Mikey and I and our mods will be doing the testing and do our best to keep this transition smooth.

As of now, we have asked you to not use the Gallery since we will be moving that sooner and we don't want anything lost in the process. You can do everything else here until this coming Friday night.

While I haven't been making any progress designing Camp Pierre or any other module for potential use while I've been here in Korea, I did get a little handy working on caboose C1 and inspecting the Bachmann van that a friend from the Clarksville Model RR club gave to me. I took down dimensions of the original motor to see if I can find a potential replacement and that's about it. I know it was a tight squeeze to let Thomas have DCC, but this one might be tighter as I think even a Z scale decoder may be too big. More to follow on that later.

Caboose C1, however, has had slightly more progress done to her than just measurements. A few days ago, I painted her underframe and internal weights black and today I cut down the toolbox that will be mounted on the underside of the car. The original toolbox was from one of my Athearn caboose kitbashes that are now C5 and C6 and the cast metal detail was left over from a old work car that was crushed on it's way from Korea last time I was here. Weather permitting (since it's monsoon season here, lots of rain and humidity) it should be painted sometime this week. I haven't had a chance to hit up a hobby store, so right now I'm working with flat black spray paint and Gorilla glue.

Would very much like to acquire an A/A pair of N scale ER/Bachmann Baldwin Sharks (DC) in D&H dress.

I'm planning on drilling holes for grab irons. What type of drill do I need or do others use for those small bits? I think my cordless will be overkill.

Just a heads up, but we are getting closer to moving to our new server. It's just like when you are moving to a new house, you sometimes move some essential stuff first, then throw the rest on a moving van when the new house is ready. That's basically what we are doing. One of the first things we will be moving is the Gallery. So, we are advising you that any photos that you upload to your album from this point on has no guarantee that they will be there when we arrive at our new home. This will not, repeat, will not affect anything that is there now.

Rather than using your Gallery album for new photos this coming week, we're suggesting that you either upload the photos to the thread, or put them in a remote album like Photobuckets and link to them that way.

This is going to sound weird, but next late spring, early summer, you guys will have a round of the 17 year cicadas. I'm asking if people could scoop some up for me next spring/summer.

I do amateur entomology (insect study) on occasion, and I was really looking forward to preserving some 17 year cicadas.

The latest brood in New Jersey hatched this past spring/summer, but all of the ones I collected to Preserve have become destroyed. the next brood (brood 10) won't hatch until 2021, and this brood won't return until 2030 (I'll be 40 years old!). It has been very upsetting to me, since I went out of my way to pick good specimens and to grab as many as them as I could without looking insane.

Unfortunately, they all died out about a month ago. If I am lucky I might find some relatively intact in some of the wrecks around the shop that I work at, but it is doubtful that I will be able to find any at this point

In the meantime, if anyone happens to see any such cicadas for sale (doubtful, but worth a shot), please let me know. So far, I had no luck with Ebay.

If you live in the states listed, you will get them next year- Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi, or Louisiana. The farther south, the sooner you will see them.

They do not sting/bite, and hardly even attempt to escape.

One of my industries is a RE Gen oil business at the end of the short line you have to go back to a short runaround to make the switch . Here is a kit I found at a hobby shop for about $8.00 it's a vollmer kit I did a little work on . There is also a pic of the terminal not far from my house , they have to go back around 500 yards to a run around to make the switch , end of the spur!!!
