  Train Sim World 2
Posted by: LiveSteamer - 03-02-2022, 09:52 PM - Forum: Upper Berth - Replies (3)

Well this is something you don't hear about to often but, there is a game for PC, PS5, & Xbox that is called Train Sim World 2. You can actually play on real life routes that are in the game. You can also purchase other routes to play on as well. Three notable routes are Clinchfield, Sand Patch Grade and Sherman Hill. For those of you that have time and want a different experience or to kill some down time I suggest you go and download this game on one of the systems. Below are a couple screen shots from the game. I've been playing this game for about 2-3 months. The level of detail in this game is beyond what I expected and honestly I can't get enough of this game. They are also in the process of testing out the Horseshoe Curve Route which will go from Altoona, Pa to Johnstown, Pa with the South Fork branch included.

Below are some photo's from mine and my girlfriends trip to Meyersdale back in the Fall of 2020.

Yes that is a Lego Version of WM Caboose 1803. It is an exact replica of it built in Lego. I took it with us that day because it seemed fitting to pay a little tribute.

  A second attempt
Posted by: CNR5103 - 03-02-2022, 03:56 PM - Forum: Weathering - No Replies

Today was a day in the paint room.  After painting two new cars, I decided to give a second attempt at weathering.  As I am still practicing new techniques, I choose a simple boxcar which is not much detailed.  Here are the results :

It seems this car had run behind a steamer for many years.

I applied diluted acrylic paints with an a newly acquired double action airbrush.  I would certainly have had better results with more practice with the airbrush which is quite different from my old single action.

Comments and criticisms are welcome.

Since I had to start over again with my collection of trains I figured I would start off with this. Here is what I have of the B&O so far. I am planning to get more once time allows me too. I have many more to show you all what I have now. But for now enjoy this.  Goldth

  ezday's scratchbuild 2022 challenge
Posted by: ezdays - 03-01-2022, 05:13 PM - Forum: Contests & Challenges - Replies (51)

I chose to do a scratchbuild of an old style Arby's. I'm doing it for a couple of reasons, first, I like the shape of the older building and want to also replicate that old cowboy hat sign, Secondly, my layout is expanding and it needs a fast-food restaurant closer to some industry. And lastly, I'm doing it because I don't have any kits that I want to build and I doubt that there's any within a 100 miles of here. I just don't feel like waiting for an order to be delivered, plus I enjoy scratchbuilding. I don't have a clue what I have to work with until I get my train stuff back in order and the drywall guy says he may not be back before Monday to finish painting.

So here's my initial attempt at a sketch of what I think it should look like. The customer area will be about 20' x 38' with a kitchen/service area of around 25' x 30'. I'm guesstimating the dimensions based on some photos that I found in the Internet:

  I'm Back
Posted by: LiveSteamer - 03-01-2022, 08:26 AM - Forum: Upper Berth - Replies (13)

Hello Everyone,

It has been quite sometime since I've been here. Life caught up with me and things happened to where I needed to take some time off. It has been so long since I was last here I couldn't remember my log in and had to have it reset. LOL, Over the past year though things have changed yet again in my life as me and my girlfriend welcomed our baby girl Faith Noel Miller into this world. There isn't enough time in the day to sit here and explain everything that has happened in the past few years. Although over the past year I have been collecting HO Scale trains again and getting my collection back up as all my trains from before were stolen. I've been collecting more B&O stuff than Pennsy stuff lately as I am finding the B&O more interesting at this time. But anyways, I hope all is well here and everyone is doing good. Now it's time for me to go and catch up on everything and see what I have all missed in the nearly 8 years that I was away.

  Russell Snow Plow
Posted by: CNR5103 - 02-28-2022, 05:10 PM - Forum: HO Modeling - Replies (20)

I recently bought a Walthers kit of a Russell Snow Plow I want to paint in Canadian National Railways paint scheme of the 50’. The problem is that I don’t know which color was used on this equipment in 1959. Was it Morency Orange, the color used on CNR cabooses in this era, or CN Red #11.  I found a photo of a CNR Russell Snow Plow taken in 1959 but unfortunately it’s in B&W.  Nope

  Dynamic Brake Lever 3D Print

I purchased this at a train show about 10 years ago.  I 3D printed a lever for it, since I never had one.
The letters on the handle is our railroad moniker:  MF&W RR
