  HOn3 cars for TrainNut
Posted by: nachoman - 05-13-2010, 12:39 PM - Forum: HO Modeling - Replies (61)

Yesterday, TrainNut brought over four HOn3 cars for me to assemble. They include a Precision Scale D&RGW short caboose, and three Rail Line D&RGW 3000 series boxcars. Since this forum can never have enough build threads, I thought it may be helpful to document my progress here.

I started with the caboose. The D&RGW rostered two basic types of narrow gauge caboose in the mid-20th century - "long" and "short". The short cabooses were retired in the early 1950s as the Rio Grande abandoned many of it's narrow gauge branches. The short caboose was less comfortable with crews, especially because it lacked a bathroom Smile. I decided to model this caboose after # 0500, pictured here in Durango:

This caboose was saved by Bob Richardson and survives today on the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge railroad.

FS Pair of Spectrum N&W J Class 4-8-4's
Posted by: Allegheny2-6-6-6 - 05-12-2010, 07:22 AM - Forum: Swap Meet - Replies (2)

I have a brand new never used pair of Spectrum N&W J class 4-8-4 locomotives for sale. Both are DCC equipped. I am asking $250 for the pair both have the same road number 610. Might consider interesting trades I accept USPS money orders only. plus shipping, I would like to sell as a set and not individual pieces.
............. Shoot I will consider a two for one locomotive trade if it's one that I am interested in.
Thanks for looking

My son and I visited Southern California in February 1998 to watch and photograph trains. I have scanned images and started to publish them on my Fotopic site.

First set is in the Mojave and Tehachapi areas, Saturday 14th February 1998.

  Sketch-Up basics for Modelers
Posted by: mooreway - 05-10-2010, 02:30 PM - Forum: Tips and Tricks - Replies (4)

Hey guys,

I am in need of 5 brave Eek souls to participate in the beta test of a Sketchup basics for modelers class I am doing online.

It will consist of 2 Thursday evening classes from 6-7:30ish pm mountain time on May 20 & 27, 2010

to participate you need to have a Skype account and a pc with the free version of Google's Sketchup software installed. ( I will send instructions to help set up both)

I will be demonstrating how quick and easy it can be to design structure patterns in Sketchup and how you can then export them to printed patterns for traditional scratch building techniques..

If you are interested you can post here or pm me..

Thanks

Mooreway
