Hi all,

I recently purchased a good stock of Micro Engineering rail that had been stored for some time. As a result, there was some corrosion and tape goop here and there.

I used a metal cleaner produced by Eagle One called "Never Dull" to clean it. It's effective, and long lasting - I've had the can in the photo for about 20 years! (Who knows, it may be illegal now)

Started building this N scale elevator yesterday.As you can see I have a long ways to go yet.







Silos are PVC pipe,there will be atleast 8 more of them.

Headhouse (to be replaced later) is from the Walthers kit along with the car shed.

The office is made from pieces of the Walthers building.

Saw this at another forum....I thought it was something they'd need cranes, jacks, and so on to get done....

Gents I was doing a little surfing this afternoon checking out the dates for the June Great Scale Model Train showdown in Timonium Md. aka The "Timonium" show and I came across something interesting I thought I wold share with you all.
Seems they will be having a modeling contest allowing either kit or scratch-built items in any scale...and offering huge cash prizes to boot in addition to award plaques. Don't know about you guys but this is a first for me, so I'm pretty excited to bring down a couple of structures that I figure might make the grade.
According to their website the prizes will be as follows first place will be $500, 2nd...$250 and 3rd...$100. These prizes will be in the form of gift certificates to be spent at any Timonium show.
Can't say I have ever seen this before but this will be a first for me to enter a non NMRA model building contest. Pretty cool stuff.

I am thinking about becoming an ebay seller. I am not trying to get rich or use it as primary income; I intend on simply getting rid of things I don't really need and am hoping to make a few bucks in the process. I have bought a few things from ebay, the last being about 3-4 years ago, but have never sold anything. For those of you who have sold on ebay, do you have any helpful advice? And if you think I am better off trying to sell elsewhere, what do you suggest is better? I know people call it FEEbay because of the fees, but they do have the largest audience, and probably will get the highest bids. After all, I have seen pure junk sell on ebay for .

I am completely new at this. Are things like minimum bids and reserve prices a good idea? What about payment methods and shipping options?

I have been inquiring about strip mines and got the information I needed. Now I am going to put my new information to use on my layout. There is a place on my layout that I have been planning on making a coal mine. Originally it was going to be a shaft mine. Now it is going to be a strip mine I thought I would share the progress with all. Here are some photos of what it is now.







This is under the main layout. I can go about 30" deep if I desire but probably 12" is more practical. The whole area is about 5' long which I will probably be used all of it. Now the fun begins. I you don't see anything for a while give me a push. Suggestions are welcome

The Indiana Railroad (INRD) got a bunch of ATSF CF-7 as their very first engines. Those engines has been used without any paint job over years. They kept all ATSF lettering, logos and also the ATSF road numbers.
I was always under the assumption that it is required/mandatory to have owner marks on each engine. At least an ugly patch as used after mergers is required.

The INRD case teaches me that is was wrong and an engine might be painted as desired. Even wrong identification (ATSF on an INRD engine) is ok at least as long as the legal owner of the name does not protest. Did I get that right?
