I am in desperate need of locating 3-4 locomotives, G scale. They must be 2 axle to run on 4' diameter curves. They will run 6-8 hours daily in a pediatric clinic. Children will not be able to get to them. I had 4, but 2 turned completely belly up and the last 2 backups are about in ICU with no hope. So far I used LGB and Aristocrft, and they did good, but I lost the list I had of sources. I HOPE I can find some for $125 or less. Does anyone have ideas? Sources? HELP!

When soldering sections of HO track together, is it best to solder a few strands of wire (or one thick strand) along the edges of the track? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I really muddle through these things. Lately, I've simply been soldering blobs of solder along the sides of the track but I remember reading somewhere that it's better to solder strands of wire alongside the tracks.

If so, do you use some sort of clamp to hold the wire in place while you're doing the soldering? as it could be difficult holding 3 things in place -- the solder iron, the solder wire as well as the wire being soldered onto the track.

Also, my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be and I get frustrated that I have trouble seeing what I'm doing!

or anyone have a damaged unit willing to seel it for a decent price. just want the powered part to make my dummy unit a powered unit

Im pretty sure this topic has been beaten like a dead horse, but I am still confused. Ive heard from people who do and some who dont and am unsure what the best thing to do is. A lot of people say just just track spicks, or nails, while others say it needs glue. Im using mostly flextrack, and want to know what everybody says. Do I glue the track down or not?

Ok time has come to chose locomotives.

Our needs.
Our average train will be 7-8 cars on a urban industrial branch line with a .03% grade.Now Landstar Gains ships Monday,Wednesday and Friday.This will add 10 extra cars on those days.Track is 80 pound.

A quick call to the home offices reveals we have 4 SD24s,3 SD7s,2 GP20s,2 GP7s,2 RS1,3 RS3s,1 RSD4 and 1 RS11 in storage at the Cumberland shops awaiting dispersion..We are allotted 2 units for our operation.1 unit will be a standby locomotive.

Which locomotives would you chose?

Many of you have seen pictures of Lester Perry's Layout here... I've been lucky enough to see it in person. The reason being, that he is part of a 4 state Open House annual event.

Over the years I always liken Atlas to be N Scale's equivalent of Athearn because all of the products Atlas offers in N..

Now I just may have proof.

One of my CH&V GP9s picked up that Athearn "growl".

Later today I will check the 200 out and see what ailing this unit.The 200 has been a smooth runner.

Just needed to post this. I just converted over to DCC and had no clue what I was doing,really!!
Between All you guys here at the gauge and the help from Pete at BLW and Tony's it became a no brainer.

Norm: the DCC guroo at Tony's has to have the patients of a saint to put up with some of the questions I've have asked and walk me through the setup of my NCE Procab and decoder installs.

Susan: Not sure but She seems to have her finder on the pulse of the whole place. About 2weeks ago there was a mistake on my order and billing. (was over billed) Not only did she take the time to correct the problembut she called me(not emailed)but called to make sure everything was ok and to give me all the credit numbers. She also offered to call my bank.
