Woodland Scenics Just Plug LED lighting
Posted by: Chet - 04-23-2018, 08:56 AM - Forum: HO Modeling - Replies (6)

For a long time I have been tempted to install lighting in another town on my layout. Woodland Scenics has their Just Plug LED light so I thought I would give it a try. Here is a photo of what I have been able to do so far. Te town is about 12 feet long total and it wnded up that I need an expansion hub to to be able to complete the town. I do like the way the lamps look, just right for the transition era. It is a bit of a pain working with wires that aren't much larger than a hair, but I do like the results.

I just got this from Flickr....here we go again
We’re excited to announce that Flickr has agreed to be acquired by SmugMug, the photography platform dedicated to visual storytellers.

SmugMug has a long history of empowering people who love photography and who want to improve their craft, making them a perfect fit for Flickr and our creative community. With SmugMug, we’ll continue to focus on you, the Flickr members who inspire us all with your work.

Nothing will change immediately with regard to your Flickr account. You will still access Flickr with your current login credentials and you will have the same Flickr experience as you do now. We will continue to work to make your Flickr experience even better.

We think you are going to love Flickr under SmugMug ownership, but you can choose to not have your Flickr account and data transferred to SmugMug until May 25, 2018. If you want to keep your Flickr account and data from being transferred, you must go to your Flickr account to download the photos and videos you want to keep, then delete your account from your Account Settings by May 25, 2018.

If you do not delete your account by May 25, 2018, your Flickr account and data will transfer to SmugMug and will be governed by SmugMug’s Terms and Privacy Policy.

Read more detailed FAQs about this transition on the Flickr Blog.

We’re happy that Flickr is your home for photography and we look forward to the next chapter in our adventure together as we join the SmugMug family.
Thanks,

Continuing with my efforts to honor other forum members with cars on my layout. I am also learning more about printing my own decals and applying them.

Nothing new to post, so here's one of my favorite pics. A pair of Case International combines being unloaded at Farm and Tractor Supply.

 Digitrax LNWI
Posted by: faraway - 04-11-2018, 05:58 AM - Forum: DCC - Replies (1)

My new Digitrx LNWI (http://www.digitrax.com/products/wireless/lnwi/) arrived today. I plugged it into the LocoNet bus and and the little power supply in the power outlet and the physical installation was complete. An old iPod (bought in 2011 and used on our US trip) is used as the new handheld remote control. The App got installed and the WiFi selection changed from my home net to the LNWI and everything was up and running.

The old iPod with the App

It works great and the installation is as smooth and simple as advertised.

It will be less used to replace my two UT4 hand controls but the iPod is very handy while testing engines on my work desk on the other side of the room.

 Freelance 2018-2
Posted by: faraway - 04-10-2018, 06:27 AM - Forum: Layouts - Replies (2)

I am playing with a possible Freelance 2018-2 on the same bench and track work (sounds familiar to you Wink ) as Freelance 2018-1 but with a "brick scenery" in the 1980s (true blue Conrail !). I am trying to stay with foam board structures but this time wallpapered with "Radical Flat" images. I am also learning what needs to be done with that kind of brick structures to get a 3D imagination.

I use Radical Flats images since a long time. Some time ago were my images from multiple use worn out and I ordered some sets as replacement. That was my luck, shortly after that time Radical Flats discontinued that series. I keep them like a treasure and work with copies only.

The first test front has the windows recessed by 2mm and the vertical pillars are doubled on back card stock.
I scanned and printed a first test with 600 DPI. That resulted in huge files and an awful long print time. This one is scaled down to 150 DPI, is easy to handle, prints fast and looks the same.
