Hi everyone, after posting photo's of my recently completed Doan Towers, some of you wanted to see some more of my modelling.
So it just so happens when I was photographing Doan Towers I also took one of my other dioramas out to photograph the same night.
It's my Horwoods Service Center produced by "Rail Scale Miniatures" and I got some beautiful sunset shots of it. Enjoy!

After looking at a couple blogs namely the Quebec South Shore Railway <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://theendofsteel.blogspot.ca/">http://theendofsteel.blogspot.ca/</a><!-- m --> and the Ontario in HO Scale <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://ontarioinhoscale.wordpress.com/">https://ontarioinhoscale.wordpress.com/</a><!-- m --> I revisited my Dilemma HO layout plan <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://bigbluetrains.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7961">viewtopic.php?t=7961</a><!-- l --> After some thinking I decided to go in a more prototypical direction and era for a new ISL based on the CNR Kensington sub that was located on Prince Edward Island and will be set in the 1975-1985 era.

The rail line was light jointed rail with the heaviest cars in the 220,000 pound range. CN ran RSC-14's <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLW_RSC-14">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLW_RSC-14</a><!-- m --> I acquired a 1990's Overland RSC-14 and have picked up an Atlas RS11 for conversion to another RSC-14 using Kato RSC trucks and Shapeways parts. That will probably be a slow project. I am not sure what I will use for track but it will not be hand laid since I would never live long enough to to it. I'll also use my existing Peco medium turnouts.

Industries I will model

Schurman Concrete - gravel in 3-bay open hoppers, sand & cement in slab side covered hoppers
Shur-Gain Feed - grain in covered hoppers, bagged feed and farm supplies in boxcars
Team track - farm machinery

Potential industries

McCain produce - mechanical reefers, insulated boxcars
Petroleum Dealer - either Esso, Shell or Gulf, tank cars for fuel and boxcars for misc lubricants
Fertilizer plant - Covered hoppers
Schurman Building Supplies - boxcars for lumber and misc goods

I have slowly begun to pick up cars appropiate for this ISL and will also need vehicals and structures suitable for the era. I am going to have the RSC-14 equipped with dcc and sound and slowly gather parts for the RS11's conversion. I will be using the exsisting benchwork for this ISL and run a NCE dcc system. If anyone has any information or pictures for my era and location I would love to see it.

Hi everyone, this is my first posting here at BBT, and I thought I would share with you this plastic kitbash that I did named Doan Towers.
It's a Bachmann Ambassador Hotel kit with 2 other Walther's Cornerstone building under construction scene used on top.
I named it after super realist modeller Chuck Doan, as a tribute build to him & his work that he does.
This kitbash was inspired by a photo posted on" Shorpy", of a early high rise construction scene.
I love using lighting as part of my builds, so LED's were put to the task of doing just that.

I haven't been to COHS in Clifton Forge Va for about 10 years. The last time I was there it was basically an old store front on the main road (US 60) in Clifton Forge. They have a very extensive collection of drawings, documents & photographs. I understand they have received financial help from government because it is so complete and intense. It is supposedly the largest of any R.R in the nation. I have looked through some of the lists of what they have collected and it is very impressive. Now they have stepped up to another level. I think this all happened about 5 years ago.

























There is a large scale probably 12 inch model R.R. that goes around most of the area. They have several live steam, including an H8 and D...##ls for the other people .

I'm actually in the process of building a small switching HO layout depicting Erie's Harlem Station in NYC. Back in 2010, I started to build it but the project was soon plagued with turnout issues and lack of data. Even though, I still think rail-marine operations are particularly interesting.

SInce then, I found out better pictures, better maps, aerial photographs and could then proceed to redraw a more accurate track plan. The good thing was that Harlem Station had almost no curved turnout, which is a good thing with small radius.

I'm confident the track plan is probably one of the most precise version of this station yet to be found. Many modellers tried to reproduce Harlem Station, but so far, all of them made concession here and there. My goal is to operate a faithful rendition of this terminal.



The layout will be made of two waffle frame modules bolted together and equipped with folding legs. I already started to build the module... What a time consuming process, but it's worth the effort.

I'd like to experiment with radio-controlled/battery powered locomotives, mainly a boxcab which I already discussed in another thread. I have many reason to go this way which I won't detail here but they are mainly centered on flawlessly operation with short wheel base locomotive at slow speed and the possibility to run the locomotive over the carfloat without having to wire it.

All structures will be removable for easy of transportation. A club member is highly interested in operating this layout at home, so it's why it is designed as a freemo module for exhibit.

Except locomotives, I have a large amount of 1940s and 1950s US cars that will be at home on this layout. It's a great opportunity to use them.

To be noted, most structure, except the car float, will be kitbashed or heavily kitbashed, including tugboats, freight house & shed, gantry crane an small coal dealer sheds.
