I'm almost out of my pollyscale rust paint. Have any of you come across an equivalent color match to this color of rust from another vendor?

I've just finished building another SP locomotive.
It started out as a factory decorated GP9 Pennsylvania RR Lifelike Proto2000 model I bought in the late '90's , so it's probably approaching 20 years old.
I stripped it, detailed it, repainted, converted it to DCC with sound, using an ESU Loksound V4 and a sugar cube speaker.

All that's left to do now is some weathering, but here she is with 'factory new' paint.

Hello. I am looking for the following locomotives (Electric) in HO scale.

I have no idea where to start. It can be safely assume that these loco, as they were, do not exist in HO scale.
However, I am willing to do some "tweaking" such has: installing pantograph, new paint and some minor mods.

That way I can have a final product that would look fairly close to these two very different type (pictures below).

Sooooooo if you could point me in the right direction that would be great. I think that Bachmann may have something like the first one and maybe some European manufacturer for the second one.

I am just at lost where to look.

(1) Class Z-5-a, was built by General Electric in July 1950 :






(2) Class Z-1-a, was built by General Electric in 1914






I do realised there are two different type (above). It doesn't matter which one, as long as
I have something that is "close enough" that would work.

Some steam loco's had to use blind drivers in order to negotiate some of the sharp curves. Does anybody know which loco's had these blind drivers. A small list would be nice. :-o

Of course we won't see another era of colorful paint schemes on boxcars like we had in the late 70s to mid 80s, but would be nice to see something other than the graffiti covered, repainted junk you see today. I have recently noticed a lot of "care worn" 50ft and 60ft box cars re-lettered for NS on the mixed freights over the two busy NS lines in my area, along with an increase in boxcars carrying private owner reporting marks and find that interesting. Of course it's quite common to see relatively new FBOX and TBOX cars on trains, but there are only a handful of customers using boxcars these days in this area.

Good to see there is still a demand for the good old boxcar, and will be interesting to see if any of the "big roads" actually invest in some new ones in the future.

Quite a while back while perusing some old modelling magazines I came across an article by Brad Smith in the September 1977 Model Railroader on kitbashing USRA tank cars from Athearn BB single and triple dome cars.
What caught my eye was his two dome kitbash and at a later date I found an undecorated triple dome kit as a donor kit. However on researching double dome tanks cars, what usually comes up are photos of the Lionel tank Double dome tank car, I gather that two dome cars were built around 1930 but as I was unable to find an actual prototype photo, I put the project on indefinite hold.
The other day I came across the BB kit and the article, and as I was wanting a break from the ferry project, (while drawing, scaling and then making parts is generally fun, it was starting to become a drag, and I wanted a quick project where someone else had done all the figuring out), I thought lack of prototype photo was not going to put me off as I thought that it would make an ideal tank car for Gern Industries.
So if DoctorWayne happens upon this, could I please have a reporting number for a two dome tank car? Also “If it’s GERN its Good!”, I don’t imagine liquid flux would need a hazmat sign, or does it?

Hello Everyone---after almost 5 years (WOW),I thought many members were getting tired of Part 2.Thank you for all the views and comments,I really do appreciate your support.No big changes for Part 3,just a fresh start to showcase some of the rail-fanning activities from my hometown---hope you enjoy and thanks again for viewing this thread.

The first day of summer has an annual gathering of rail-fans at Hamilton's Bayview Junction,the tradition goes back over twenty years.I decide to attend this year for the first time.When I arrived around 8:30 this morning there were about 30 "foamers" on the Laking Gardens bridge---looks like many of these fans were making it a full day,complete with deck chairs and coolers.I only stayed for an hour or so but was able to catch some action---actually the ride home was more rewarding as I caught more action around Stuart St. and CP's Kinnear Yard
