There is a wild fire burning southeast of the Phoenix area in the town of Kearny. I mentioned in the Hobo Camp thread today that there have been several structures and at least three homes destroyed so far. There are tracks running through the town, and I saw video of a tank car being run down the tracks with someone on top spraying the fire. I found these photos on another stations website. BTW, they also have several tankers and two helicopters assisting the train in battling this fire :

Still need to add a few decals, windows, and tweak the paint a little bit, but my ex-CNJ GP40P is starting to look pretty good. Hopefully, it will be ready for this year's show season.

At 7 pm on Monday, June 22, the meeting of the Madison County Historical Society in Anderson IN will feature county historian Steve Jackson’s presentation of “An Electrifying Era,” a pictorial story of the Interurbans and street cars that existed in the Anderson area from 1888 to 1941. Anderson was the home of the Union Traction Company.

The meeting, in the Madison County History Center, 11 W. 11th St., is open to MCHS members and the general public. There is no charge to attend this or any event in the facility. Parking is available on street and in the parking lot across the street.

I don't know if anyone else had posted this. I was in touch with Lynn off and on and we sent a lot of private emails. I knew he was fighting the fight with cancer. Lynn was a very fine gentleman, we had many interesting phone conversations last year. I will miss him.

Trying to find out who made this 0-6-0 in Brass,I know some things were changed to make it a CN 0-9-A,I was
told that it was an ATSF but doesnt appear to be,any help would be great,this has to be from the 70s,80s

Yes, I am new to this forum. I am not new to HO scale, although I have not done any modeling recently. So, here's my question (I am planning a simple 4x8 with a 22in radius curve). Does anyone know if any of the track makers make a wye turnout specifically to follow a 22in radius curve? Or exisiting choices that I can *carefully* finesse to that radius?

To a lesser extent, I am curious to hear what opinions there might be out there regarding part of my loop - I plan to have a 2nd track on the inside. I want to get some opinions on track spacing - from centerline of one track to centerline of the adjacent track, what distances are recommended?

Would the clearance distance be different between the straight sections versus in the curves? And particularly for the curve that I will * try * to run 88ft/89ft TOFC or high cube boxcars on the 22in radius, I want to make sure I don't have any interference with rolling stock on the inside curve (which will be more reasonable 50ft sizes, etc for the tighter curve)... and please don't tell me I can't run 88ft/89ft on the 22in radius - i know that is possible but that's why I said * try * to run...

I recently read where one can wipe the tops of their tracks with a carbon stick to ensure good electrical contact. Now I am wondering if a carbon stick is the same or simular to a charcoal stick and if one could expect the same results with either of the sticks?
