Sometime ago I felt the need to add some additional motive power to my layout so that i could alternate them.
My first diesel was an EMD SW7 so I decided to stay in that area. I really could not find what I was looking for so I decided shop for what
I needed. I contacted Athearn parts dept and got a SW7 shell and handrails. I then went to ebay where I got a complete SW7 and a SW7 chassis.
My first step was to cut the cabs so as to the blue ends onto one cab. The yellow ends were retained for the box cab. After putting the cab back together
and locating it on the frame I then cut the shells to fit on the frame. I then added hand rails and some commercial castings. Lastly I repainted it black
with a PRR maroon top and yellow lettering and weathered it.

For the box cab I used the yellow cab ends along with .040 styrene to make the body and roof. Again I added commercial castings, repainted it in the same colors as the
offset cab unit and weathered it.

Have way too many of these so need to find need another good MR layout to run on. They are in kit form but brake wheels have been added. They aren't all in original boxes but all parts are there except the horn hook couplers. Replace any plastic ones w/ Kadee #148s (not included).

KATO NW2 #1319
This Kato NW2 is done up in the Southern Pacific tiger stripe scheme & is numbered 1319. That scheme doesn't fit in my era any more. It was purchased as a kit a few years ago but only put on the stacks, bell & whistle at that time. It has Kadee #148 couplers added. It does come w/ all the other detail parts & the instruction sheet. It doesn't come w/ the original box, but it is a Kato NW2 box. It is still DC but a TCS M1 decoder can be hard wired in w/o removing anything from the chassis. As the loco & box weighs 1 lb 5 oz it will have to go USPS Priority Mail. Asking $40.00 plus postage from 90706 for this Kato NW2 or best offer.

BLI SW1500 #2621
Bought this Broadway Limited SP #2621 SW1500 at my LHS last September. Decided not to keep it as want to buy the new Atlas S-2 so letting this one go. It has only been test run & programmed on my NCE Power Cab. It is a very good running & sounding loco. It will run in both DC & DCC modes. Besides the great EMD sounds, it has bells & whistle plus the complete SP light package & mars lights! It runs great in all speed ranges - from very slow to 60 MPH. The SP SW1500s were geared to run w/ their other larger locos when some extra HP was needed. Did replace the plastic couplers w/ Kadee #148s. Also added a Nathan P3 whistle & moved it forward as per SP prototype. Also added the Details Associates #1802 whip type antenna. It comes w/ its original box & all paperwork. It weighs 1 lb 2 oz so will have to be sent USPS Priority Mail. Asking $180.00 plus postage from 90706 for this SP SW1500 or best offer.

It has been over 3 years since I last posted here (under user name foulrift). Much has happened during that time,some good,some not so good.
I spent a lot of time doing many upgrades to my layout (was called FoulRift ISL) now renamed Hobbs End ISL. Some of these upgrades include some
new industries, road re-alignment, some new track and the installation of a car float for moving freight cars to and from the industrial park.
I also re-drew the track plan using the layout as a guide.
I am posting the track plan and some of the newer areas on the layout.

Hey guys,

As I model the late 1970s, there were a few interesting prototypes out there that I'd like to represent. One such prototype is Amtrak X995, the prototype Swedish engine that would become the AEM7. As it turns out, Marklin produces this model, and they show up fairly frequently on Ebay.

However, the main challenge would be making it work on 2-rail DC. I am sure someone here has experience with Marklin AC engines, and I am curious if they know the details of the construction of AC powered HO engines.

What I'd like to do, is order the guts of an Atlas AEM7 and adapt them to the Marklin engine. However, I think I was told that the wheel sets in the AC engine are a single electrically conductive piece, and are not insulated from each other. This would prevent me from simply rewiring and re-motoring the model.

Can anyone shed some light on this? would this be too much of a headache to rebuild?
