Hello guys,

I need help in developing a track plan for a FREMO americaN N scale module.

What I want to have is a place to service and store about 20-30 modern (1970s - present) diesel engines.
The modules are only 15 3/4'' wide and the track has to begin and end in the middle of each end of the module.

I bred over the project for a few weeks now and I have problems in finding a track plan.

There is no need for a turntable or a transfer-table or engine sheds.
Only storage tracks are needed.

Maybe I do not have enough (prototypical) knowledge to succeed.
Please let me know any ideas, sketches, hints or suggestions you may have.

Finaly I made some newer shots of my in progress layout.I´ll start on the lower level with Chetwynd,BC.


Now entering the southend of the yard with the station and freightshed.


the northend of the yard with the tracks splitting north to Fort Nelson (left track) and east to Dawson Creek (right track).
The Track to Fort Nelson will be ending in a hidden Staging under the Chetwynd Yard.


The tracks to Dawson Creek will first arrive at Sundance Siding (milepost 12 of the subdivision)


First time I build this area I called it Tremblay with a Grain elevator and some other buildings but wasn´t happy with that. So I decided to build the Sundance siding.Below that there willbe some trackage of the line to Fort Nelson...
Next is the Helix to the upper level

Thursday was one of those memorable rail-fanning days that I thoroughly enjoyed,especially because of my companions---Charlie and Doctor Wayne.Charlie is on his way to a fishing trip and fortunately for us decided to stop over for a few days in our hometown.We ventured out yesterday taking in some of the local scenes as well as a few new rail-fanning locations.Although the action wasn't as busy as Charlie's home territory I think we had a pretty good day,especially our visit to the Ontario Southland Railway's service shop in Salford.Here's some of my photos taken during the day---hopefully Charlie and Wayne can add some of their favourite pictures.Thanks again Charlie and Wayne---you made my day.

The headlights of the GMD-1 are not very bright.
The LED unit is mounted on top of the chassis (center element is the headlight). The light must travel through the air and find a small hole in the shell, travel through that thin tunnel in the shell further down until it meets the clear lens at the outside of the shell.


Little cuts of fiber optics roughly matching the diameter of the hole in the shell about 3.5mm/0.14" in length will ease the way for the light


Simply glue them with CristalClear into the holes of the shell. A drop of CristalClear in the hole is very welcome as it will ease the transition from the fiber optic and the lens at the outside of the shell.


Test if the shell still fits on the chassis. To long fibers will interfere with the LED unit and prevent the shell from slipping over the chassis.
The headlights are still no bright floodlights but it is better than before and very easy to do.

I was just doing a little research on Baldwin diesels as I am a big Fan of their cab units, and wanted to show a few of the more interesting bits of info on them.

I originally bashed this building (originally Geo. Roberts Printing ) I think about 15 years ago.I've been wanting to expand it for some time now and Don Day (Easy Days) just happened to have the very kit I needed for the expansion and it was for sale.

Anyway here are 3 pics showing it now and with the addition setting in place.





You can tell by the spider web I have not been doing much to the big layout. :oops:



With the addition setting in place you can get a fair idea of the new foot print.By the way the addition is Variety Printing even though this has been W.Fowler Fine Furniture since I first opened the kit waaay back then.

Model Railroads of Southern California’s forty-second layout tour takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 20 and 21.

This will be a self-guided tour of thirteen layouts in North Orange County and Corona. Two layouts are appearing for the first time on our tour program: Ron Grau’s G scale Cactus Gulch Railroad and Henri Seynaeve’s collection of several Z scale modular layouts. Altogether there will be four HO scale layouts, one N scale layout, three O scale layouts (two On30), one Z scale layout and four garden railroads.

I attended the Cherry Valley O Scale Swap Meet and Open House on Saturday, Sept 6, 2014.
The club is located in the basement of the Grace Episcopal Church, 7 East Maple Avenue, Merchantville, New Jersey.

A while back my ferry project was beginning to “stall” and also I realised that w**k and family commitments were going to severely cut into my modelling time. While I’ve been reasonably pleased with my kit bashing efforts I still think I need to practise working with styrene and so with both reasons in mind I looked for a “Quick” project. I needed idler flat cars for the ferry and while looking for plans for wooden truss rod flat cars came across an article in the March 1958 Model Railroader, “Freelance Flat Car, an MR one evening project”. Hurrah, just the ticket I thought ...........
