My thread is a little late here, but I have been working on building the new city for my train club. I actually have several kits to build, two of which are resin. These include the Walthers Ashmore Hotel, US Post Office, News Stands, and the Lunde Studios "The Bon Ton" and "McAdams Building" kits. The latter are resin, and its tough to pick which specific structure should be for this challenge.

I think though, I will stick with "The Bon Ton", though the rest of my city bulding probably warrants its own thread! Indeed, all of it needs to be done before the end of the summer, or I will be in trouble!

In any event, I have begun by painting the walls and parts. I have yet to upload photos, but so far its looking good. I've decided to paint the building by hand rather than airbrush it.

Hi,

According to informations I could track back, Clermont's Donohue Paper Mill on CN Murray Bay Sub received a lot of peroxyde and other similar chemicals (and it is still the case).

What were typical cars used for this service in Canada during the 70s and early 80s. I found many old pictures of canadian paper mills but you rarely see the tank cars on them. From pictures from the late 60s, I know a lot of 10 000 galloon tank cars were seen on trains going to Clermont. ORER also indicate that CGTX maintained those old cars in service well into the 80s.

Any idea? Any information is welcomed!

This is a continuation past the finish of my Summer Scratchbuild Challenge....and, not part of it.

"Most of the running rigging is done on the sloop ( work boats have simpler rigs ) I just need to rig the shrouds, and the sloop will be done. This will take a bit, because of all the "ironwork" that has to be made and attached first."

I've gotten to this point, so far.

as you can see, the chain plates for the shrouds have been built and secured to the hull, the Shrouds have been rigged ( eyes around masthead, and upper "deadeyes" attached / lower deadeyes attached to the chainplates / and lines reeved through the deadeyes, hauled tight, and tied off. The Bowsprit guys / footropes / and sprit stay is rigged and attached to the the Stem just above the waterline. This completes all the "Standing Rigging" ( these are the fixed lines, that hold everything "in place" )

and a close up, of the fore deck, with a couple of lobster traps just forward of the mast. ( this picture ( you're seeing about 4-3/4" of the model ) is about 1.5 times the size of the model )
At this point I am researching what "hardware" I'll need to build, and where to put it, for hauling up the traps so the lobster can be removed, and placed in the wet tanks.

In all honesty, I can't say which ( building, or researching ) has been the more fun.....each has its own rewards, and it's a case of find out what, find out how it is put together, and then build it and install it. There are also the running lights, Anchor/s ( anchor hawser, or chain ) Whatever small details I've overlooked, and, at some point, a name.

Trent Valley North American Modellers have had exhibitions for the last 5 years, but this is their first Freemo meet, and it was a great success.
