North Platte, Neb.;
Marysville, Parsons and Coffeyville, Kan.;
Kansas City, Mo.;
McAlester, Okla.;
Ft. Worth, Hearne, Houston, Bloomington, Raymondville, Harlingen, Palestine and Longview, Texas; and
North Little Rock and Van Buren, Ark.

Well I acquired some well needed space here in the subterranean empire for a well needed yard. The tentative yard space is 30" wide x 12' long and actually resides right over the top of my deck where I am typing this, yes we are squeezing every available inch of space out of the train room. It will have a section at the one end 30"W x 36"L that may house a transfer table (being as Walthers keeps dropping the price) and car shops right behind my engine facility. This space will be ahead of the yard space so don't consider that into what ever
I was thinking about making it a double end rather then stub end yard as I want to continue onto the next wall which will be a narrower section of shelf so to speak housing double or single track I haven't decided yet and scenery and a few structures. Then tie it all into the main section of the layout.

So rather then just start throwing down turnouts and connecting them with flex track my usual method of madness I though why not try something new and different and actually follow a track plan. Problem is I haven't really found anything yet so I'm turning to my brethren for help. Ok stop laughing guys
and give me your ideas on what might work in this space

I ordered two Atlas engines, due in "May 2010". I never bought a pre-order item, so I wonder, when will I really get them? Anyone have an experience with a pre-order with Atlas?

I have been looking for different subjects to shoot lately. In a morbid way i suppose, I was looking for the ill effects of railroading.

Here are 2 of the first shots on this topic.

This crossing at Pineridge Rd was the scene a few years ago when a young man didn't make it across.

This shot is the memorial to one of the worst losses of life on Canadian Rails. September 1st 1947 Dugald MB. The Trainscontinental was waiting on the main at Dugald for the Minaki Campers Special to reach Dugald and take the siding. But for some reason the Minaki special failed to take the siding, instead hitting head on with the awaiting train. 31 known lives were lost, and many more injured. The Minaki special was using wooden coaches with gas lit lanterns, Upon impact the wooden coaches ignited. A google search will find most of the information on this accident.

well guys here is a little update on the cars.

i been cought up with work. and helping brother in his shop with some custom airbrushing work. wife asked me last night when we where out for one of our few dinner dates what is going on with those cars you started. i told her i just have to finish the decals . and seal the paint. so that is where i am i will get some pics up as they get finished.

Headed out trackside on Saturday to see what the D90 do in the rain. Here's what I found:

Does anyone on this forum rebuild locos? I have an older model B&O switcher that isn't running. I think maybe one of the pickup brushes fell out from the frame work surrounding it. I can't find a mfrs name on it anywhere. It's a cool little loco, and I'd like to get it running. Perhaps a later model motor might be feasible? No DCC, just good old fahioned DC. I would be happy to take some pics, and e-mail them to anyone who might be interested.
