Now that I have a food distribution center on my layout I figured it was time for some rolling stock to service it.This car is my take on a mechanical reefer.
I started with an old Athearn 40' boxcar,added plug doors provided by doctorwayne.I also added see through screens,fuel tanks for the reefer unit,new paint and decals.

Here is the very first snap shot of the reworked layout. I did actually only remove all buildings and placed (put) new ones in place to see if it gets along as planned. It is no surprise to start with the elevator alley in the Illinois/Iowa area. I do not plan to have more buildings on that part of the layout.



ps. The little freight depot on the left side was only assembled available. I liked it so much I bought it anyway. I beg the moderator not to cancel my account for that frivolity ...

The closest railroad artifact to my house (not on my property) is a piece of rail used as a bollard about 1/4 mile from my house. The closest railroad to my house is the Phoenix light rail system, at 3 miles away.
The closest freight railroad to my house is the Union Pacific, about 3.5 miles away.
The closest static railroad display to my house is at the McCormick Stillman Railroad park, about 6 miles away.
The closest steam locomotive to my house is also at the McCormick park, 6 miles away.
The closest operable (non miniature) steam locomotive to my house is in Williams, Arizona, about 150 miles away.
The closest store to my house that regularly sells model trains is Coronado Scale Models, 3.5 miles away. (I won't count seasonal train sets at wally world).

On the way to the Marion, Ohio slide show on Saturday I recorded this sequence in Deshler:













An E494 empty coal train had to wye its power in Deshler using the northwest and southwest transfer tracks. This seems to happen a couple times a year when I'm in Deshler. Even if one unit had completely died the other would be able to handle an empty coal train to Huntington with ease. More likely, however, is a non-working heater in one unit, necessitating the swap.

Hi guys. I could really use some help.

I am trying to install a Tsunami TSU GN 1000 into my P2K GP9. So far I've manged to wire the motor wires and the speaker wires. That's it.

The wiring schematic that came with the instructions shows wiring for two wires from each pickup or truck. Problem is, I only have one "black" wire coming from each truck. The P2K also has one lone red wire that is screwed to the frame.

Here is a picture of what I have so far... try to be kind...this is the first time I've tried installing one of these.



So...Got the motor wired up. Got the speakers wired up...now what? :oops:

The Tsunami instructions that came with the decoder show a two pick up wires for each truck. Seen here...



Nosing around on the web I have found various sources of information, but I can be a dunder head at times even when the answer is staring at me right in the face. I found the Litchfield Station website to be of some use.
