  For Sale Items?
Posted by: railandsail - 11-29-2019, 07:43 AM - Forum: Forums Issues, requests, and FAQ - Replies (1)

I'm still having some problems negotiating this website,...somewhat strange (at least to me).

So I was trying to recall if selling was allowed on this site?? (I have about 50 O-scale, 2-rail cars that I am not going to use)

I'm trying to find out if anyone has successfully installed some sort of 'keep alive' that would allow these VERY short wheelbase locos to negotiate insulafrog turnouts in congested switching track zone??

Meantime I did find a rather interesting discussion about adding lighting effects,...

  Crossing Signals on the Prototype
Posted by: Seamus O'Leary - 11-19-2019, 06:07 PM - Forum: Layouts - Replies (7)

On a prototype railroad, how many crossing signs (whether they're just crossbucks or crossbucks with flashing signals) would there likely be for a single road that crosses three successive sets of tracks?  One on approach to the inner track plus one on approach to the outer track (for a total of two), a pair for each set of tracks (total of six, which sounds like overkill) or some other combination?

On my small (7' x 5') HO layout set between 1947-1955, one road crosses three tracks.  The two inner tracks lead to a freight depot, and the outer is the mainline track. With such close proximity to each other (8" from the innermost rail to the outermost rail), I'm thinking that one crossbuck for the inner tracks and one for the outer tracks on opposing sides will suffice without cluttering up the area.

And for such a setup (with relatively light automobile traffic going to and from the depot and a nearby grain mill and farmhouse), would simple crossbucks or crossbucks with flashing signals be more realistic?

Thanks for your input!

Wanting to trade 2 BLMA 89" ACF J89 flat cars for 2 Intermountain Railway 60' wood deck flat cars.  Looking for the Trailer Train or TTX with the OTTX markings or undecorated versions.

  Wooden HO Crossbucks
Posted by: Seamus O'Leary - 11-17-2019, 03:26 PM - Forum: Scenery details - Replies (4)

Who makes wooden HO crossbucks with signage appropriate for a U.S. railroad in the transition era, c. 1947-55?  I'm not finding any on an Internet search.

I'm looking for ones such as these on the Rix Products website with numerals, etc.

https://rixproducts.com/product/crossbucks-milepost-ho/

Better still, I'd like to make them myself using scale lumber and decals.  I believe I once read an article in MRM or a Kalmbach book on how to make them, but cannot find it now. Any ideas?

Due to the higher elevation and the wind effects off the nearby lakes the Stoney Creek Hill has always been hit with heavy snowfalls. The operating crews at Leetown have been ready for the season's first storm and head out to keep this important passage open.

  ESU Loksound 5.0
Posted by: faraway - 11-13-2019, 10:44 AM - Forum: DCC - Replies (3)

I received my very first ESU Loksound 5.0 bought to replace older ESU Loksound 4.0 in four SW1500 with RTR drives.

ESU claims complete new motor control curing the nasty humming sound (many modelers do not notice that sound).
The motor control is in fact much better but still not at the level of ZIMO.

The decoder comes with a tiny sugar cube speaker. I replaced it with my "standard" 13 x 18mm sugar cube. The new 5.0 sound files are much larger and the programming takes about one hour ...... (you get the time to write in the best forum ;-)

ps. No I do still not like ESU's none standard product policy!
