This would be a great model

I got this pic from another Forum . I thought what a great addition to a layout , or maybe even a stand alone diorama or mini layout !

I learned that what I thought was a box cab in the foreground , is a covered " steam dummy " , used in the 1800's so as not to scare the horses

  Thoughts re Hyper Loops?
Posted by: RobertInOntario - 03-21-2016, 04:18 PM - Forum: Lower Berth - Replies (23)

Just curious as to what folks think of hyper loops? I had never heard of them until I saw it on the news today.

Sounds like Sci-Fi but they are actually developing them.

(Like self-driving cars, I'm not too keen on this.)

  Geat British Train Show 2016
Posted by: BR60103 - 03-20-2016, 07:44 PM - Forum: Tours, Events and Shows - Replies (2)

The Great British Train Show will be held this year, May 7 and 8, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.theplatelayers.org/gbts2016/GBTS%202016.pdf">http://www.theplatelayers.org/gbts2016/GBTS%202016.pdf</a><!-- m -->
Admission is $10 (Canadian) (That's about .25 American) Nope Concessions for youngsters and families.

This is the biggest and best all-British train show in North America. *
Dealers. Layouts. Demonstrations. Used stuff.
Brampton is located at exit 348 of Hwy 401 -- approx 3.48 hours east of Detroit. Closer to Buffalo. Just the other side of the airport from Toronto.

*We wish it weren't, because we'd love to go to the other one.

When do you do your modelling?
Posted by: RobertInOntario - 03-18-2016, 08:46 AM - Forum: Upper Berth - Replies (20)

This is a mundane / silly / comparison question but I thought I'd toss it out anyway! as I've recently had to some schedule changes.

Just curious to find out when other folks do most of their model railroading... For example, I used to do mine in the late evening (10:00 to midnight) and this would be any time of year. That time was good because the kids (especially when they were younger) would be asleep, the house would be totally quiet, and I could really "zone in" on what I was doing.

However, during the past year, I've started a new part-time job where I need to be up around 6am, so late-evenings "ain't" working anymore. Now, I'll run trains during the early to mid-evening hours, even though I can be interrupted or more distracted then.

Are other folks the same ... any early-morning MRR people out there?

Rob
